I really hope someone else watched Neighbours tonight (10 July), because I only heard half a reference.

Zeke had just come back from science camp. His mates were bagging him out about it, I was distracted talking to my family, and the next thing you know Zeke says 2 words: DAVID TENNANT!

My guess is that maybe David popped in at camp to say hello (science/science fiction?). If anyone has any more information please post it!

Sorry can't help you there.

In last night's Einstein Factor on ABC1, one of the questions on Benny Hill was that one of the sketches that Benny Hill did was called The Italian Job and The Italian Job was also the name for the corresponding Doctor Who Confidential episode for The Fires of Pompeii in which the cutdown version was shown less than a couple of hours after the aforementioned Benny Hill sketch was mentioned in The Einstein Factor.

On South Park just now, Stan was hallucinating after taking too much cough medicine. He started to see strange colourful images, including what looked just like the time vortex at the beginning of Doctor Who.

Wow, a Doctor Who and South Park crossover; I can imagine it now...

"Pull my finger, Doctor." "Why, Master?" "Just pull it. Pull it." *does so* *farts* "AHAHAHAAH! HAHAH!"

...no, hang on, that's The Curse of Fatal Death.

Funnily enough the next South Park episode was about a volcano erupting...

Still on the topic of volcanoes-
Last night's Simpsons episode E. Pluribus Wiggum one of the restaurants that was briefly shown was a Vesuvius Pizza which had as its sign Mount Vesuvius and even erupted like the real thing. This of course comes two nights after ABC1 shown The Fires of Pompeii.

Continuing with the theme of volcanoes following the broadcast of The Fires of Pompeii, I have just finished watching the Legion of Super Heroes episode In Your Dreams and a volcano briefly appeared in that episode.

Hahah this is going to get ridiculous pretty soon.

You Only Live Twice is a Bond film I haven't seen in years, but I remember that there's a base inside a volcano.

Planet of the Ood which aired on ABC1 on the weekend had Halpern drinking hair tonic. Coincidentally the Private Practice episode In Which Addison Has a Very Casual Get Together which was on 7 afterwards also briefly addresses the issue of hair loss!

At the 90210 thread in the A Holiday for the Doctor section I posted news about the return of the Jackie Taylor character in the Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off.

Sometime after the announcement of the current Doctor Who TV series in 2003 there was one article that mispelt Rose Tyler's name as Rose Taylor. As a result of seeing the Jackie Taylor name I thought momentarily I was seeing the name Jackie Tyler thanks to my memory of that article. I leave people's imagination of what Jackie Tyler would have been like in the 90210 shows.

No volcano from me.

I was in a training course today, and one of the other students had TARDIS cuff-links - so we talked about Doctor Who, as you do.

Ah yes - there's nothing like bonding with complete strangers over Doctor Who. Reminds me of one time when I went into my local second hand bookshop to buy some DW books, and it turned out that the other customer and the guy behind the counter loved Doctor Who! We chatted for a good 15 minutes, and when I went back a few weeks later it turned out the customer had left me heaps of classic books and The Tenth Planet on DVD!

Anyway...

I was eavesdropping on some girls in my Maths class the other day, and one of them said, "Exterminate". It seemed they weren't talking about Doctor Who - one girl was saying things like "dismember" - but hey Smile

This week's Bones episode Soccer Mom in the Mini-Van guest starred a Deborah Zoe. From a Doctor Who fan's viewpoint this is quite a remarkable name considering the fact that Deborah Watling had been replaced in Doctor Who by Wendy Padury who had played Zoe!

In last night's Rove, Rove was talking about the Channel 7 show The One. After saying, "The One", Rove followed this with the "Oo OO oo..." of the Doctor Who theme.

It seems that Rove will use this theme whenever he's talking about anything supernatural, this being the second time I've heard him use it.

Last night's Hyperdrive episode on UKTV, Harvest had Teal saying "Oh my giddy aunt" which was something that the Second Doctor used to say.

It also featured the Red Shiny robots of Vortis and Vortis was the name of The Web Planet.

I had a couple of 'What? What? What!' moments this week.

On Wednesday night, I was having dinner with a few interstate work colleagues at the Can berra Labor Club. Wednes day night is the night they have a membership draw and, thinking I could probably find a use for the $13,000 jackpot, kept an ear out for the winner's name. I thought I heard the name John Tardis called. Checking the computer display, the gentleman's surname turned out to be Tardif. And he wasn't there, so the prize has jackpotted again.

Today, I picked up the latest issue if The Big Issue and was flipping through it, seeing what I might like to read. I saw a photo of Jim Broadbent, who has played the Doctor in two comedy sketches (including The Curse of Fatal Death, the first TV Who penned by Steven Moffat). On the text page next to it, the words DOCTOR WHO leapt out at me, so I had to read what it said. The paragraph (in all capitals, as shown here) read: AFTER PLAYING A RINGMASTER AND ONE OF INDY'S ALLIES, VERSATILE ACTOR JIM BROADBENT TACKLES THE ROLE OF A DOMINEERING DOCTOR WHO REMINDS HIM OF HIS OWN DAD. So not a surprise casting announcement, after all...

In tonight's Vicar of Dibley, Jim was telling a joke which he found absolutely hilarious.

- Knock knock.
Who's there?
- Doctor.
Doctor who?
- Yes!

Interesting that Alice didn't make the joke, since she's the Doctor Who fan. Then again, she probably wouldn't get it...
