Vortisaurs!!! (Is that a spoiler? Probably not, they do about as much here as they did in Storm Warning).
Yes, I liked Havers - he was kind of like the Bond of audios (until he started crying I spose). As you said, Theta, great to see Mr Chadbon back in action. Funny that he mentioned being an inspector in the old days - fan indulgence or coincidence there? Amusing anyway. The singing was great too. This audio had a perfect wine and cheese atmosphere (god knows why I didn't get bored out of my brains then).
The ending reminded me very much of the end of Children of the Revolution (I hope that's not a spoiler too). Good ending ploy. Can't wait til the next one - a two-parter with Cybermen. Mmm... |

Nice musical interludes in this one.
Does anyone else picture Lucie as the black girl from Tripping Over? |

Human Resources Part 1:
Wow what a beginning of the story that will end the BBC7 series. Definitely much better than the two parter that began the series Blood of the Daleks.
Even though I already knew what would be the monsters in this story it was still amazing when they finally turned up. |

This was the best episode so far, actually, and I really hope that Part Two is as good if not better. Then we can end this series on an incredible high.
Unlike some of the previous stories I was able to understand who was who very quickly - with Blood of the Daleks in particular it was difficult to work out who's voice was whose, mainly because of how fast-paced it was. Here however everyone immediately leapt off the speakers and I got it straight away. This was one of those rare audios when I didn't really have to listen what was going on yet what was going on was still really brilliant.
It took me a while to work out what the Cybermen voices were though - sure, they stomp like the New Series ones, but they seem to have a mix of New Series and that "Yoooouuu will becoooome like us" thing from The Tenth Planet (my favourite voice incidentally).
Roll on the end...
EDIT: 300th post. |

Human Resources Part 2:
A very good end to the season. Not quite sure though about leaving the Headhunter and Karen openended. In the corresponding Beyond The Vortex programme question was raised about whether there would be further adventures of the Eighth Doctor and Lucie. Well it would good to hear more of Lucie's travels with the Doctor in future. |

Whoo! *claps hands like Yvonne Hartman*
That was rather excellent. The Cybermen voices were plain WEIRD. Is this the first time two completely different Cyber-voices have been mixed? And then they stomp around like New Series ones! Boy, I don't know.
I am really hoping that we get more of Lucie in the future. As good as the other 8th companions are (I think Izzy had the best arc, for instance), so few of them are actually fun! Just like Destrii, Lucie is FUN!
That was this whole series, actually. FUN!
"Oh I should say, hooray!" *claps again* |

All in all that was a good series. I loved the cybermix voices. Though I still don't like the military marching. The cybermen remove emotions not individuality! I kind of like closure to an arc and leaving her story open ended irritates me. Oh well.
The story was good and original with lots of old stuff for the fans. Although I wanted them to link it to blood of the daleks at either the start or the end.
This story also adds to my original point in Is the Doctor Facist? Wonderful |

Are you sure the Cybermen don't remove individuality? Isn't that the whole "You will become like us" thing? In Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel, the whole point of the "Jackie Tyler is converted" bit is to raise that point.
Adding to your point about the Time Lords using the Doctor, then? Yes, indeedy. |

I'm pretty sure. That's why they never walked in step before we got to the alternate universe. And they think different things. eg 5 doctors One cyberman suggests something then the leader comes up with a better idea. And how would the mondasions justify removing individuality to their poeple? The whole point of cyberising was to replace their weakening bodies, not become one great machine like the borg.
When they said you will become like us they probably just meant the body and the emotionless.
In the new series theyre in an alternate universe and in the audio they weren't (presumably). |

| True. You're probably right, though I've always wondered how Cybermen can argue with each other when they have a) no emotions and b) a need to follow what is logical. To be honest I think it's only in the 80s that the Cybermen began questioning each other, so the initial concept was entrenched in the loss of individuality I'm sure. I may be wrong though, and you're right... there are inconsistencies. |
