Dont you love Britains The Sun newspaper, I will quote their garbage story below;
"Doctor Who to get axe in 2008
By GORDON SMART
Deputy Showbiz Editor
May 31, 2007
HIT show Doctor Who will be EXTERMINATED next year — after the fourth series.
Boss Russell T. Davies has decided to axe the BBC1 sci-fi drama and concentrate on other projects.
He and senior staff have hatched a plot to hand in a group resignation in summer 2008.
A source said: “The heavy workload — nine months of 16-hour days every year — has started to take its toll.
“It was decided the best thing for the show was go out at the top next year.”
Davies was behind the relaunch of Doctor Who in 2005 — 16 years after it was originally axed.
The series, starring David Tennant as the Time Lord, is watched by eight million every Saturday.
Here is the link it is sourced from ;

If anyone believes this stuff they need their head read. |

The Sun is full of crap. They publish nonsense articles on the basis that, if they publish enough, they must eventually get something right.
They publish articles on Doctor Who because it is popular and they hope to sell extra copies.
I don't believe any of their reporting - unless it is also published by a more reputable source - in which case, I may believe the other source and hence The Sun by default. |

As if! And just because Russell T Davies leaves doesn't mean the show has to stop.
The thing I found a little unnerving was this comment on the article:
"At last, it's about time. It's one of the worst shows on tv and always has been."
Are you mad? What's not to like? |

| I agree. It does not make logical sense from a marketing point of view or a continuity point of view. They wouldn't have spent as much money as they have on merchandising a flop and it has always performed well in British ratings. Even if you discount those facts and just take into account the number of BAFTA's the show has received, it would be madness to cancel. Not to mention, the Doctor only has three regenerations left. |

Some would argue that RTD leaving would mean the show has to start.
Yeah, this was rubbish. It's a pity, because occasionally there are false articles posted that I wish were true (obviously this isn't one of them - I was thinking more along the lines of the Robert Carlyle one ages ago). |

The way newspapers like the Sun work on a series of stories is to put out a few reasonably accurate "exclusives". They are spun in the paper's own inimitable manner in order to lure their readers into a false sense of security.
"Oh my goodness" cries B1 (Bogan 1) "They were right about Doctor Who! It is going to have Daleks!!"
"Ooh! Err!" replies B2. "They say now that the Fifth series of Doctor Who is to be filmed entirely in Uzbekistan. Is that a planet near Uranus?!"
It reminds me of a Cheech & Chong skit. "Hey Boris! What is that on pavement?" |

| I am SO happy the Freema rumour is rubbish too.....She is a lesser actress than Piper obviously but she's just got something so much more for the 'dad's' than Billie ever did. (sigh) |

The BBC has slammed the rumors about the show from David leaving at the end of this series to Freema being sacked to the show being axed. I think the Sun writes this crap hoping that it comes true. The only persist rumor is that David will be leaving mid series 4 but the BBC hasnt confirmed that either at this stage.
I know that Freema will be appearing on the first 3 episodes of Torchwood season 2 and then will re-appear mid series 4 of Dr who, so i'm not too sure whats happening there But i guess we will see what happens closer to Xmas. |
