It is with great saddness that I have to announce the passing away of Dr Who's first producer. Verity died on the eve of the 44th anniversary of the show. Crying or Very sad

I was absolutely shocked when I found this out at Outpost Gallifrey and what a timing of her passing just a day before Anniversary Day and five days before 72nd birthday on November 27.

Geeeez, this shocked me. This means we've lost yet another sterling person who worked on the series from the beginning. Her period of Doctor Who (and she produced Jonathan Creek, too!) is utterly superb.

Hmm, that 'Family of Blood' reference to her will be sad watching now.

Verity Lambert died the day before the series' anniversary.

Now, Mary Whitehouse actually died on 23 November (2001, for those wanting to know)...

Oh god, I didn't know that. I'm really scared now. Bloody, bloody scared.

(Yes, Whitehouse, I said "bloody"! Try and stop me, haha!)

Verity Lambert is one of those who participated in the commentary track of the forthcoming DVD of The Time Meddler, so at least an echo of her will be with us again shortly.
