Smallville will not be shown on Monday Christmas Day which is curious since the episode that will be shown on December 29 is called Lexmas. Apparently it did not occur to anyone at 10 to show Lexmas on Christmas!!! A case of a wasted opportunity.

Lexmas is TV WEEK's Pick of the Day for December 29.

Splinter:
A better episode than many of previous episodes of season 5.
Martha says that the election for the State Senate is in January which is strange since elections in the United States are held on a fixed date in November.
Found out something interestingly about Chloe's email address at TV.com:
"Chloe's Email address appeared in this episode as chloe_sullivan@dailyplanetmail.com. If you send an email to this address, "Chloe" responds with the following: Hi, Not sure how you got my e-mail, but thanks for saying hi. Can you believe Lex Luthor is actually running for State Senate??? Check this out, some students at CKU already put up a website supporting his campaign...

Scary if you ask me. Check back with me in a couple of weeks. I may have something else interesting for you. Have a great one.
Cheers,
Chloe Sullivan

For fun, I just try out that email address and it works.

Lockdown:
Upon seeing Sheriff Adams I was thinking, "Aren't people getting tired of seeing her". So it really came as a shock when she got killed. I ought to be careful of what I am thinking.
It didn't occur to me until I read it in TV.com: why didn't Lex have a first aid kit in the panic room when he got shot? After all the purpose of a panic room is to withstand a nuclear attack, therefore survival materials should have been in the room including a first aid kit.

The next episode is the 100th and it is TV WEEK's Pick of the Day. Be interesting to see what is going to happen in this episode.

I noticed that the first of last night's two episodes Vengeance has Smallville season 5 having a similarity to Buffy season 5, that of the parental death of the lead character and subsequent decision about school. In this Smallville episode Clark dropped out of school following the death of his father just as Buffy dropped out of school in that aforementioned Buffy season following the death of her mother.

It looks like from the end of the other episode Tomb that Martha will take up Jonathan's Senate seat. For people not familiar with American politics, it is not uncommon for a widow of a late officeholder to replace her husband in office. One example that I know of is that Muriel Humphrey appointed to a vacancy in the US Senate in 1978 following the death of her husband former Vice President Hubert H Humphrey.

Overall: Vengeance was powerful while Tomb was very spooky.

Smallville on January 19 comes fourth place in TV WEEK's Pick of the Day.

Looks like Brainiac is returning in tomorrow night's episode while the episode after that on January 22 comes second place in TV WEEK's Pick of the Day.

Hypnotic:
My mouth was opened with the teaser sequence of Brainiac's return.
So delighted when I saw Nichole Hiltz's name in the credits. She is so beautiful.
Here is one observation about Martha, she is still addressed as Mrs Kent despite the fact that she is now in the State Senate. So her correct form of address should be Senator Kent.
Finally Clark breaking up with Lana. It was inevitable that this would happen but it was still sad.

The penultimate episode of season 5 on February 9 comes fifth place in TV WEEK's Pick of the Day.

At the end of the episode two nights ago, Lionel was writing something down. Be interesting to see what it is.

I think smallville should have stopped after one or two seasons just before the movie. It's gotten to the point where superman character has changed from the overly polite dweeb to some overly powerful teenager. Its just being dragged out too far IMO.

Be interesting to see how long the show will last.

Fade:
When Graham asks Lois if she was Clark's girlfriend, she said "Not in this lifetime". She has no idea how wrong she is about that.
Gia is gorgeous.
Very frustrating that Lana thinks that Lex saved her life when in fact it was Clark.
The best part of this episode was when a naked Lois opened the door to prepare to attack an intruder only to see Clark. That was so funny.

Good question.

The final episode of the fifth season airs this Friday and 10 will go straight to season 6 from next week. The season 6 opener on Friday February 23 comes fourth place in TV WEEK's Pick of the Day.

Read in yesterday's Sunday Telegraph that Lynda Carter will guest star in Smallville. Interestingly both Superman and Woman Woman are members of the Justice League but somehow I don't think that Lynda will be reprising her Wonder Woman character.

I actually already saw the first two episodes of season 6 prior to its transmission on 10 and the third episode which I am almost finished with and will be shown on March 9 comes fifth place in TV WEEK's Pick of the Day.

Finished with episode 6.3 a couple of days ago and without spoiling anything the songs in it were very good.

I have received bad news of Smallville's schedule as the followiing was posted by CJM43 over at tvaus.com:
"After even more disappointing ratings than usual last Friday, Smallville has now been taken off & replaced with Simpsons Repeats until Big Brother Friday Night Live commences after Easter.

As sad as it is, Simpsons will do a lot better both in total people and in demographics. TEN were hoping that Smallville would grow after it started airing the current season, but unfortunately the opposite has happened; and it hasn't really had tough opposition."

Despite that, yourtv.com.au still has Smallville scheduled this Friday.

I'm not surprised with the ratings. The episodes have been growing steadily worse with lazy directing (both characters facing the camera) and bland acting (Lex and superman) and unimaginative stories (just intro-ing countless lesser known heros that are always evil but turn out to be good).
It has becdome entirely depepndant on SFX. Never a good thing (particularly in Who)

Krytonsite.com has reported the casting of former Superman Dean Cain in episode 4 of season 7.

Cain played Clark Kent/Superman in Lois and Clark in the 1990s. Obviously in Smallville he will be playing a different character and is the second former Superman after the late Christopher Reeve to appear in the series.

Something to look forward to while waiting for Smallville to be back on 10.

Wonder if Lois in Lois and Clark, Teri Hatcher will get to be in Smallville one day, provided she can find time off from filming Desperate Housewives.

Found out that former Supergirl Helen Slater has been cast in the series. That is all I know as I did not want to get into spoilers.

Found out from Madds at Buffy Down Under that Smallville returns on 10 on Saturday September 29 6:30pm.

This comes a week after Doctor Who finishes it current season on the ABC which means that Saturday sci fi viewing on free to air TV (at least for me anyway) continues.

The return of Smallville on September 29 with episode 6.5 Reunion comes second place in TV WEEK's highlights of the day with reviewer David Kettle saying that Smallville fans have been rewarded with this satisfying episode.
