12AM-1AM:
A very filler hour and the preview of it really suited the unexciting atmosphere of it.
As TV.com has noted how could a lawyer be assigned to Joe Prado within the same hour of his arrest and not to mention that it takes place just after midnight.
President Logan looks very unhinged in the job.
The ending is shocking.

The usual: Rexona ads including their own version of 12AM-1AM and the Sarah Wynter "Pantene" ad.

The first twelve episodes of season 4 on DVD was sponsored for the two Alias episodes (its companion piece) shown on 7 last night.

1AM-2AM:
A very strong hour as we see the return of Dennis Haysbert as former President Palmer. However what really stole the show was when Chloe finds herself in the field and the hour ends with her getting a gun out to shoot at her attacker. I had to applaud on seeing that.

Rexona shows their own version of 1PM-2PM and announcing the winners of their 24 competition which included one Barbara Bain. This is somewhat appropriate as Barbara Bain was also the name of a regular on Mission: Impossible in the 1960s TV series which is somewhat a precursor to 24.

Nina Myers has been ranked 10th in TV WEEK's top ten villains in its latest issue.

Tonight's episode is Hour 20 in Day 4 and found out from TV WEEK that following on Hour 21 in its usual time on Monday, Hour 22 will be shown just three days later on Thursday at 9:30pm where it has been paired with Alias in its penultimate episode on that night.
Therefore in addition to its usual time on Mondays it is not clear whether the final hour of the Day will be paired with Alias season finale the following Thursday.

2AM-3AM:
So great to see former President David Palmer back in charge again and while looking at the credits I thought his name was going to come under the dull "Guest starring" billing since it did not appear as "Special Guest Stars" along with Carlos Bernard and Reiko Aylesworth until it came under the "Special Guest Appearance" label.
Nice to see Aaron again.
Despite the urgency of the situation it is quite disturbing that Jack chose to have Lee Jong's life take priority over Paul's surgery which resulted in Paul's unfortunate death.

The preview after the hour ended states that the last remaining four hours will be shown twice a week meaning the season finale will be paired with the Alias season 4 finale on November 10.

3AM-4AM:
Yet another distraction for CTU as the Chinese investigate the incident at their Consulate and the death of their Consul.
Somehow it is just so predicatable that Edgar would be the one to let things slip as the Chinese now know that Jack led the raid.
Wow what an ending to an hour seeing that missile being launched.

Surprised to see at the preview Reiko Aylesworth saying 24 is now on twice a week.

4AM-5AM:
Wow Wow Wow look who is back Mandy, last seen poisoning President Palmer at the end of Day 2. I am so glad to see Mia Kirshner back as her.
Quite a shock that the information that Richard Heller held back was his sexuality.

24 last night was not the only programme to see the return of a long absent character as Alias which followed it also did the same.

5AM-6AM:
This could easily have been the repeat of the previous Day's situation when Tony aided Saunders as he held Michelle hostage only this time it's Tony who is the hostage, Mandy the one holding him and Michelle in the position to help her out. However Michelle buckles and unlike Tony in the previous Day actually tells her colleagues about it.

I knew that Mandy and Tony weren't the ones in the car when it exploded especially Mandy's earlier visit to her neighbours' place provided a hint of what she was actually going to do.

Felt kind of sorry that Mandy got caught but someone had to tell CTU with the information they need.

Quite shocked that Howard Bern got intercepted by the Chinese and knew that he was going to crack and give away Jack especially what he was to expect if he didn't cooperate.

Francois Chao played the Chinese consul who got killed and was seen briefly in the beginning in the flashback. This came after I saw him in Grey's Anatomy which came before 24.

On a related note saw Xander Berkeley (George Mason) in not one but two shows last night. The first was in The A-Team episode Showdown! on TV1. Then half an hour after that A-Team episode ended saw him again this time in the CSI episode Invisible Evidence on 9 (and whether by coincidence or design due to his 24 association, this CSI episode involved a case that had to be solved in 24 hours.)

I got to see Berkeley in both those shows last night simply because I had missed out on seeing that A-Team episode the last time around and I had made a last minute decision to watch that CSI episode.

just to show what an uber-geek i am Francois Chao also guest starred as the Chinese ambassador in an episode of Stargate, and for those who remember such things from their child hood, he was one of the voice over actors on 1980's action cartoons like G.I. Joe!
Yes very sad, I know lol!

6AM-7AM:
I am so glad that Mandy did not get killed.
David Palmer finally knows that it was Mandy who poisoned him at the end of Day 2 as he reluctantly allows her pardon.
I thought that was a very quick end to Marwan and the missiles as the remainder of the hour deals with Jack about to be handed to the Chinese.
Logan started off as a President nervous in the job now he looks like a creep as he is willing to look the other way if Jack all of a sudden turns up dead to prevent any secrets coming out of him to the Chinese.
Knew immediately that Tony was in with Jack to fake his death but also quite surprised how quick Michelle and Chloe knew about it as well. Unfortunately for Jack, Audrey now thinks that he is dead.
Like Sydney Bristow in the Alias season 4 finale that followed 24's, the destiny of Jack Bauer looks uncertain as it was quite emotional seeing him walking along on the train tracks.

The tagline for Day 5 from the IMDb is this: "To the world, he's dead. But soon, he'll become the most wanted man alive"

Curious to see how he comes back.

The publicity for this season 4 stated that Kiefer Sutherland was to be the only regular to come back with the others having occassional appearances. In the end only Carlos Bernard, Reiko Aylesworth and Dennis Haysbert came back with Carlos and Reiko making more than occasional appearances. In fact I was quite surprised to see Carlos appearing in more episodes than I expected since his part in this Day could have easily ended after he rescued Jack and Audrey from their attackers.

For the final hour I was surprised that William Devane did not appear as Secretary Heller and and does anyone remember Behrooz? He was last seen being taken away by Marwan and therefore I was expecting him to appear in the final hour just to let us know of his fate but it was a no-show for him. Found out on the IMDb that he was actually rescued by Curtis but unfortunately that is apparently from a deleted scene.

Oh by the way Francois Chao looks a bit like Burt Kwouk.

Just picked this up: http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271|98692|1|,00.html

Of the three I am delighted with the addition of JoBeth Williams as I love her.

Yesterday saw The Punisher (2004) on Showtime and to my surprise it was revealed that Frank Castle used to work for CTU. Wonder if he knew Jack?
