I'm a great fan of this story, always have been since it was first broadcast. It's fun and there's lots of cool moments. Nick Courtney gets a great send off as the Brig...his final scenes with the Destroyer are excellent.
I've never understood why this story is so loathed by many fans. It's not a classic by any means but I'll take this over Ghost Light any day which I have seen a few times and have never been able to understand. Battlefield is a good old fashioned adventure yarn with some sci-fi thrown in and I very much enjoy it on that level. This story and The Curse Of Fenric are two of my favourite 7th Doctor stories and I look forward to its release on DVD...as well as the fallout after fans criticise the hell out of the BBC for putting it on a shiny disc!  |
