| I think they're deliberately making us dislike Rose a bit more. Either to make us all say "hah told you so!" when she gets her comeuppance, or to soften the blow when she gets horribly disfigured and comes back as Davros. Oops was that a spoiler? |

| I'm glad I wasn't drinking a coffee when I read that, beatly, otherwise I'd still be wiping it off my computer screen. |

The thing I disliked most about this ep was the fat kid, the POV kid or, perhaps, just pov kid. That element of the story struck me strongly as something tacked on rather late in the production process - though I may be very wrong there. All he really did was hit the fire alarms...which is the sort of thing I'd have expected the Doctor to come up with.
I'm happy to see Micky travel in the TARDIS. I do hope his alternative self in the Cyberman episodes is named 'Ricky' (kudos to Arturo for this idea). He generates enough humour for me to be happy to see him along.
I was happy that K-9's blaster still sounds the same. That was a nice detail. And the Headmaster shouting "It's a shooty dog-thing" was amusing. Lots of humour in this episode, and it's hard to choose a favourite line...I think the bit about stripping the TARDIS takes it for me, I had a great laugh at that one.
Had a great laugh at your post, too, Beatly. Now that would be an interesting turn! |

This episode made me laugh a lot. The entire family was up at 5.45 to watch this before we had to go to work and it was an episode that stuck with me all day, making me smile oddly at awkward moments.
I'm still a little bit shocked that this has finally happened. I mean Ive been waiting to see SJ back in action and had stupidly high expectations (again). In fact I think I was more excited by this than the return of the Daleks last year. The worst thing is that the higher the expectations the easier it is to be disappointed......of course I wasn't disappointed, it amazes me that each episode I watch is the best so far but I think the bar has been raised considerably by this one.
SJ still rocks. I loved the reflection from this episode. It was a beautiful and bittersweet moment to see her finally say goodbye and it felt like she finally had the closure she needed. Did anyone else develop a glmmer of hope by her parting comments to Rose about looking her up if she ever needs to? Is this a whisper of foreshadowing or am I being stupidly optimistic (and ignoring my own statements about closure).
It was great to see Mickey realise his role, it makes perfect sense to compare him to K9 although I had never thought of the parallels it seems obvious (now).
ASH was awesome as the head. It makes me kind of disappointed that he wasn't the master as he had been rumoured to be. I was (and still sorta am) against the idea of the master returning but I think that ASH could have filled the role brilliantly (although I spose he can't now so my opposition to the masters return stands).
PHWOAR!!!!! I love the excitement of new Doctor Who, Im sure that Moffatt's episode will be great which means I see no way to be disappointed for at least another three weeks....I mean cybermen episodes can't be bad.....surely!!!!!!! (Please dont burst my bubble by mentioning Silver Nemesis) |

| I watched this episode last night and Sarah was still sexy as ever. I was dying for the moment when Sarah finds out about the Doctor. Also, I'm glad they included information for us fans about their past like the Doctor leaving Sarah on Eart and accidently leaving her at the wrong place or how Sarah was waiting for the Doctor to come back for her but he never did. It made her very emotional. I just loved the end bit where the Doctor and Sarah hugged each other. It shows that they developed a very strong bond. |

In reference to that, the story following the Hand of Fear, the Deadly assasin marked a turning point for Tom Baker as the doctor.
I think his character changed somewhat.. perhaps for the better or worse but I definetly noticed a change. Im not sure he would of gone back for Sarah Jane because of what he had seen on Gallifrey. Perhaps it was the meeting with the all or nothing Master
Definetly an interesting topic to explore.

| i think he wanted to be alone for a while but Leela ruined that by running into the tardis at the end of The Face of Evil. Thus stopping any non companion period. |

I saw this statement by an American viewer over at the Browncoats MB:
| Quote: | | I, however, am working on downloading the rest of the first season in advance of SciFi's airings, in an attempt to join that elite group that knows why School Reunion is apparently so thoroughly brilliant. |

Seems no-one else has had the heart to tell him that there's no info about SJS to be found in (new) Series 1...
He'll have to search much further afield for that! |

I wonder what he'll think when the Doctor looks different and speak with a "Northern accent"?
Firefly is a wonderful show, BTW. I count myself as a Browncoat as well. |

I'm very happy that the new Doctor sports a brown coat...and the appearance of a 'Captain Reynolds' in Tooth and Claw was amusing...
They've just seen Father's Day last Saturday in the US, I believe. That particular viewer has obviously been downloading series 2 as they screen, I guess, and seems to think SJS appears somewhere in Series 1....at least, that's what I get from reading their post.
They're in for a bit of a shock... |

Perhaps SJS DOES appear somewhere in Season 1, in the background of a shot Lets start a conspiracy theory to say she died.. but it was a blink and you will miss it |

- Sarah thought she died
- he never came back for her
- she *has* met the fifth Doctor! |
i always thought that when rassilon returned everyone to their respective times everyone forgot what had happend ..except for the fifth doctor. |
I wouldnt be so sure of that. The first Doctor seems to know who the cybermen are in The Tenth Planet and I cant remember whether or not he encounters them in Five Docs.
This was another good episode (despite the plot). For the first time ever K9 did not annoy me!!!! Probably because he did not have so many stupid things to say. eg
"Good boy K9./ Affermative"
instead of
"Good boy K9./ comliments are not nessecary master"
I even wanted him to stay
I hear that that code was not the logopolis one. It would have been excellent if it was, but just detracted from the whole thing in being a different one. The 'organic borg' idea was lame but that didnt matter.
I liked how the kids thought it was cool that the school was destroyed. Added some realism or something.
"We are in a car" was my favourite line.
I wanted the Doctor to tell rose that each regeneration changed his personality and he lost the attachment with each companion. And it would have been great if he told her that he had a grandaughter once. |

mmm if that was the case then the doctor would know pretty much everything that would be happening, if the first doctor remembers the five doctors story then he would not be surprised by what was happening to him in his fifth incarnation.
really the only way the plot cant work properly is if they were all put back into their respective time streams and forgot what had happend except for the fifth doctor whose time stream was the current time stream...umm i hope that makes sense. |

Except for the fact that the Doctor gave her K9 - what did he do, just leave K9 at her doorstep? Surely he would have visited...
But yes, this was a fantastic episode. Very amusing seeing the Doctor and Rose posing as a teacher and canteen lady respectively, and it's great to see him doing some infiltration for once (which works doubly well with Sarah).
Did anyone find it funny that Rose said something to Sarah like, "you're living in the Dark Ages", as Sarah said in The Time Warrior "you're living in the middle ages"? Did everyone pick that up or am I simply obscure?
K9's line "Maximum Defence Mode!" sounded like he was imitating a worm from Worms.
The best line in the whole episode was actually at the start: "Physics, Physics... hope you're getting all this down".
EDIT: Just noticed I wrote "psychics" instead of physics. Whoops.

As I recall he left K9 with Sarah's Aunt, she found him when she returned after her Aunt's death. Then the joyful hijinks of K9 and Co were able to begin.
Which reminds me of my gripe with this episode. When K9III was left on earth his data banks only included Earth specific information....How then was he able to recognise Krillitane oil?? |

This episode was series intermitent great moments, but it didn't really gel for me as a story.
I was pretty unsatisfied with the story, which seemed quite juvenille, but SJS and AST made up for it all! |

In which case, wouldn't she have known that the Doctor was alive? It's not like she's a stranger to the concept of regeneration either. They should have avoided a lot of the continuity really - they just ended up confusing the old series fans and the new series fans.
The only actual problem I had with the plot was that the villains were given absolutely no motivation as to why they wanted to learn the building blocks of life. And surely there are smarter children than Earth children. Also, why did they wait about ten minutes before attacking and then giving up at the cafe? |

i found this story to be brilliant and emotional. I so wanted Sarah to stay with the Doctor for at least a few more episodes. It was such a shame that this wasn't a two part story. There were so many brilliant guests to fit in, K9, Sarah and Anothony Stewart Head, all in 45 mins. Imagine how much better this would of been in a two parter?!
