Schadenfreude:
Kurt Fuller (Reverand Donald Diddum) is someone I seen a lot in other TV shows. Prior to seeing this episode I had seen him in the Diagnosis Murder episode Georgia on the Mind ( which guest starred Daphne Ashbrook and Glynis Barber).
Last time Denise, Garrett and Ryan did not interact with any of the other regular characters. This time Alan and then Denny and Shirley walked past Denise and Garrett before Shirley sees Denise telling her not to take the case against her husband herself in the divorce settlement.
Could not believe that Alan called Judge Cooper a "psychotic punk".
Kelly Nolan's testimony that her husband poisoned himself was very shocking.
A couple of technical interruptions when Alan talked to Kelly about what she just said in her testimony and when Catherine was in the police station.
Very lengthy but Alan was convincing and impressive in his closing argument.
Catherine hitting Bernard from behind with a frying pan was something I definitely did not see coming.
Monica is still credited but the only time that we see her was in the preview in the next episode.

Finding Nimmo:
The title an obvious take on Finding Nemo.
Funny on the reaction of finding Bernard's body in the fridge.
Monica gets only one line (me grumps really loudly).
Very unexpected and funny when Alan was looking up salmon in which one is called clingons (sic). In which Denny says "Did you say Klingons?" (At least that what I think he thought how the word is spelt.) We all know who William Shatner used to play.
Very funny seeing Alan and Denny in bed together.
Also funny when Denny shot the salmon with a gun and Denny and Alan's entrance in a Canadian court.
Funny when Catherine asked for the Robert Blake jury.
The reverand certainly fell in the trap by Ryan and Garrett. Wonder if they told Denise about it when she asked what did they do.

TV WEEK has placed William Shatner eighth place in its top ten TV guest stars for his guest stints on The Practice where he first played Denny.

For those interested Prime Minister Bob Hawke is the top guest star for his appearance in The Comedy Company.

A Whiff and a Prayer:
Tara is gone but it looks like from the preview that Lori will be in next week's episode.
After earlier talking to Shirley, Denise gets interaction with more of the first season cast.
Quite an opening for Alan in his defence for Catherine. As she is acquitted she and Alan finally gets a hug together. Gee that's nice.
The reverand asked Sara for her underwear and when Sara told Garrett that she was not wearing any, I so felt that coming.
Absolutely funny when Denny made his entrance as he presented his closing argument in his case.

On the Biography Channel this morning saw a documentary on William Shatner. It included seeing a scene from Boston Legal being shot. From the looks of it, it looks like an episode not yet shown on 7. As well as William Shatner, the documentary has recorded interviews with his Boston Legal co-stars James Spader and Candace Bergen. Basically they are saying they enjoy working with him.

Witches of Mass Destruction:
Oh my what a title as this episode goes through two different cases.
The witches case was quite fun especially with Denise trying to shut everyone up.
Alan takes on the case of Cassie's dead soldier brother. This brings into conflict with Denny as they have differing opinions on the war in Iraq. Although having lost the case, Alan still presented an excellent closing argument about how the war has been treated in the media.
Funny seeing Paul and Shirley as Charles and Camilla at the Halloween party as well as seeing Denny and Alan as flamingoes on the balcony.

One thing that I find appalling about this episode coming at 11pm is that it came after 90 minutes of the program Make Me Beautiful, Please. Why did 7 feel the need to show that program before Boston Legal?

Truly, Madly, Deeply:
I am not going to comment on the cow case except I find it unbelievable that Dwight would actually say that his wife the one he still wants to be with of looking like a cow.
Denny tries to dodges out of a court appointed case by Judge Cooper of defending a murderer-rapist by delegating it to Garret. Unfortunately for Garret he gets humilated by Judge Cooper in front of TV camera by telling him literally to hop back to Denny to tell him to come back in the court room to try the case. The twist really comes of how Denny got to be excused from the case - by shooting the kneecaps of his client.
Luckily he isn't charged for anything due to insufficient evidence. Denny's appearance on Larry King (a surprise appearance from Larry King himself) was quite a nice touch. Worth a mention is him thinking that John Ashcroft is still Attorney General and taking over King's show.
We find out that Alan is afraid of clowns. With Brad having to do much of the argument of the case with the clown who was fired for speaking about global warming in his show, Alan therefore had to do the closing. It was definitely not the strongest I have ever seen him present but it is still very adequate with him saying to the clown, "Be funny. Global warming is not." Nice to see him finally getting over his phobia with him telling the clown that he likes his work and touching his nose. It even got a smile from the judge.
When the series started it looks like Alan and Brad were being developed as rivals yet here it is Brad who helps Alan get over his clown phobia.
Quite like the new assistant that Alan hired.

Jeri Ryan to appear in the season 2 finale.
Despite being a David E. Kelley show, Jeri will not be reprising her Boston Public character Ronny Cook in Boston Legal but as a different character

TV WEEK in its Top Ten TV Lawyers placed Alan Shore at 7th place. Fellow Practice character Eleanor Frutt comes third. The top TV lawyer is John Cage from fellow David E. Kelley show Ally McBeal. There is no way that John Cage is better than Alan.

That episode turned out to be last night's.
Shocking when Brad chopped off accidentally the fingers of the priest.
There is a character here with the last name Kirk. I wonder if that is in reference to Bill Shatner's past as Captain Kirk.
Denny again appears on Larry King except Larry King wasn't there. They probably couldn't get him to appear again so fast.

Legal Deficits:
Brad gets put on trial for chopping off the fingers of that priest.
Being Catholic, I was not too pleased with Shirley saying it is a stupid law in regards to canon law but seem to compensate for this by saying she has a lot of friends who are pleased.
Love it when Denny asked "Question 1" "Question 2" and so on to which Brad answered without actually stating the questions in full for the jury to comprehend. Also funny was when Brad and Denise made objections even though they are not representing themselves.
The other plot of Alan helping Melissa is quite fun. That Jerry character is quite funny. Chrisopher Rich as the lawyer for the credit card company that Melissa owes money to is a hoot. Alan's statement about how credit card companies have made lots of money was quite impressive.

In the preview for the next episode Michael J. Fox. Be interesting to see how that turns out.

The Cancer Man Can:
Michael J Fox is superb in the first of three episodes as the man dying from cancer.
Denny meets a woman and later tells Alan that he and her are getting married. Does not look good in the preview for next week when the woman Beverly tells Shirley that she is only marrying him for his power and money.
Alan fights for Jerry in becoming a partner. Funny that he tells Shirley and later the other partners that he has his confidential file given to him by Denny. A file that he was not supposed to read and which Denny told him not to revealed where he got it from.
Only Alan would have the nerve to storm the partners' vote in his campaign for Jerry. Bravo.
Jerry does not become a partner being passed over in favour of Brad and I could not believe that he held aknife on Shirley's throat. I really felt for the guy and thank goodness Alan came just in time to convince him to give up.
Lori gets mentioned by Alan when he said that she got shoved off by Shirley. Gee some explanation for her departure.
I had seen Erica Gimpel (Attorney Samantha Fried) just five nights earlier in the House episode Failure to Communicate. Funnily enough this is what it says on TV.com:

"On the night that this originally aired, Erica Gimple, who played Samantha Fried on this episode, was playing Elizabeth Stone on the House episode "Failure To Communicate" during its original airing."

In TV WEEK's top ten Newreaders, real or fictional, Murphy Brown played by a pre-Boston Legal Candace Bergen came in at sixth place.

In case anyone is interested Seven's Morning News' Chris Bath came in at first place.

Helping Hands:
It's good that Alan got Jerry off the hook as a result of him having Asperger's Syndrome.
Daniel was really good in court and love the way he convinced Denny to take part in the case. It was never mentioned which school the teacher taught at but I bet you she is from Winslow High as seen in Boston Public.
Funny that Denny and Paul had a fight over his pre-nup for his impending marriage to Bev, then the next time they see each other he pretends, in fact he says he pretends it didn't happen.
This is another appearance by Currie Graham as Frank Ginsberg. The reason why I mentioned this is that earlier I saw him in two other shows that he has a recurring role in, in House (in the episode Need to Know, in the afternoon) and two hours before this Boston Legal episode was shown he was in Desperate Housewives (in the episode Silly People). Remarkable timing of seeing the same guy in three different shows in such a short time.

Too Much Information:
So funny in the teaser sequence when the shop owner thought that the two men were going to robbed him only for it to turned to be Catherine instead. Talk about being the person least suspected.
Alan mentioned the DA who agreed to drop the case against Catherine turned out to be a very pretty woman. Certainly did not expect that neither did I expect her wanting a job at Crane, Poole & Schmidt.
Alan and Denise finally have a case together. Hope to see much more of them together in future.
Like Alan's brown suit; makes me to immediately think of David Tennant in his Doctor Who costume.
That whole business of Bev firing the sandwich guy is funny and so was Brad attempting to bribe her to go away which resulted in his tie getting caught on fire.
Funny how Alan actually said that he did not see much of Denny in this episode.

Breast In Show:
Alan defends Irma after she is charged with indecency for being topless at a protest.
So funny when Denny says that there were 400 breasts and Alan had it all for himself.
Also funny Alan presenting Brad as a rival to DA Bodnar.
Catherine is funny here as she fights with Garrett for his office. Garrett states the qualifications that he has achieved and all Catherine had to say was "I killed a man". What a cracker that is.
Denise realises that she can't go on with Daniel as she attends his funeral even though he is not dead yet. Quite a sombre moment as Denise and Daniel says their goodbyes.
