Blimey. How good was that?
Er... I don't want to give any spoilers. No doubt most of you already know roughly what's lined up for this episode (and next), but I want to keep it all a surprise for you. It's good, trust me, and it does start to tie up a few things that have cropped up in the series. Even Christopher Eccleston appears at the beginning! The pre-titles sequence looks fantastic... but then, so does the rest of it.

I'm not sure what to say! That was sooo good.
Nice to see a cyberleader make an appearance at last. Once the ghosts were revealed to be cybermen, I realised exactly what was going to be in the sphere...and I was rather pleased with that development!
Next week looks very promising indeed. No idea what the 'genesis ark' is, but I'm looking forward to finding out. I'm glad they found a decent way to have...y'know what...survive. After all, Rose eliminated them from space and time in the end of Bad Wolf, I think. Given the game away now, haven't I?
Nice to see that daleks are much more formidable (sp?) than the new cybermen. Although I was expecting more than three for some reason. I'll be curious to see if any more come out of that voidship.
Great to see Micky back, and his disinterested attitude towards Rose I was happy with as well. Nice to see Jackie travel in the TARDIS, and the Doctor's comments about her being Rose I thought were hilarious.
Not sure about the Ghostbusters reference myself. Never thought that what the Doctor was carrying in last weeks' trailer looked like a dalek gun, as I saw claimed around about the place, but I am left wondering what it did do. That seems to be par for the course with most stories this season though - very rarely are things explained at all.
So...next week! Daleks vs Cybermen! And Rose dies! So much to look forward to!! |

What a brilliant episode, and I'll say right up front that I am wanting next week to come around NOW! Anyone got access to a void ship I can use for seven days?
Enemies as expected. Cybermen and Daleks. Can this be the start of the Time War? The Doctor repeated yet again! "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" That has to be significant.
The first series intimated that The Doctor was in some way responsible for the Time War or at least heavily involved, and we know that Daleks at least were in on the show. They, as well as the Time Lords were wiped out in it How may times is that now that the Dalek race has been exterminated? Worse than cockroaches that lot.
Maybe series three will be based around the concept of the Time War. Captain Jack was from an agency involved in the Time War (Torchwood) so having the two shows run a concurrent or contemporary story line involving the Time War would be a hugely ambitious undertaking. Something I think RTD could pull off beautifully. Oh god's I hope I'm right.
I liked all the jokes, except that the Ghostbusters one was a bit corny. Loved the one in the pub with Barbara Windsor. What show was that? Eastenders or summit? Nice to see Jackie getting involved, and Mickey back, looking way more confident. He even keeps his cool after the sphere opens and it doesn't contain a Cyberleader.
Just as an aside, my daughter is watching "Miss USA" on the TV as I type this. The clones, errr, contestants remind me of a certain race of, shall we say similarly featured automata. |

OMG..... words cannot describe how good an episode that was. Purely awesome is a pretty poor expression but its the best Ive got.
I did not expect Daleks! It blew me away. I never even estimated the Daleks would have that level of technology.. its more something I expected out of the Timelords or the Eternals as the Doctor suggested.
Tegan: THe Doctor finished the Time War in question, but he didnt start it. Truth be told it was the Timelords who did that by sending him back to stop their development or finish them off in Genesis. The events of the TimeWar are just a tit for tat effect of that. The Daleks were royally annoyed with the Timelords for using their ability in such a way thus it spurred Dalek development with time travel and I guess the whole void ship project. Its obvious that there are' parallel dimensions' in which the Daleks didnt all die off.
The Cybermen was an interesting angle, esp with the pan shot to Mickey in the background behind the Scientific guy. What a way to bring him in, hes just gotta hope his gun does some good V the Daleks.. but well.. dont hold out high hopes for them.
All in all, this new Doctor Who series just keeps bringing out the quality eps.. and I think this episode has once and for all made me realise that Russell T Davies can write a good tightly scripted story. Ive had my doubts.. im sure a lot of us have. This episode has been damn good. Like Tegan I also want to jump ahead 8 days.
One final note, I was very surprised with the Black Dalek flanked by the Gold Daleks. Is Black the new boss?
Matt,
still in shock |

| There were four daleks. The 4th was behind the black dalek but u can see it as they descend. And I refute the slurs on the Ghostbusters line. Best comedy line of the series so far. |

| Brilliant. One of the best Doctor Who episodes ever. 10/10. Can't wait for next week. It's a shame it has to end really. |

Jack wasn't from Torchwood when we met him last year - he was just a rogue Time Agent. Unless, of course, the Torchwood Archive have some sort of finger in the Time Agent pie.
Despite the fact that the ninth Doctor was responsible for the destruction of Gallifrey and the Dalek fleet (or the eighth Doctor was responsible, before regenerating), there's nothing to say that a large chunk of the Time War itself can't be fought by the tenth Doctor and a bunch of regenerated Daleks. This is time travel, after all, in which pre-emptive strikes can happen centuries later, and effect doesn't necessarily follow cause.
But I hope that isn't the route they take. The Time War should be kept as a thing that happened in the Doctor's past, something to refer to but not something to see.
Still... damn good episode! Haven't had a second viewing yet, though. I can't wait for the DVD box set to come out. This has been a fantastic series. |

Well, that was certainly something! Nice intriguing opening with all the 'Rose is going to die' stuff, and once the action moved into Torchwood the episode just kept building up and up into what has to be the Best. Cliffhanger. Ever.
Is it next week yet? |

Captain Jack described himself sort of as a free agent of an unamed agency, which could have been Torchwood from some point in the future. He also told a whole lot of other "cover" stories (AKA lies )" about himself.
Torchwood may just take the Dalek time technology in the 21st century, or Cap'n Jack may have cobbled it together from odds and sods left on the TV satellite. Though there's a paradox in that idea. We've had a Paradox before in at least The Two Doctors.
Anyway, this is what we will find out from the Torchwood series when it airs. |

A very good precursor to what looks like could be an excellent episode next week.
- It would be great if the Genesis Ark contained Davros.
- Good to see a Cyberleader
- David Tennant and Billie Piper at their best.
- Ghostbusters bit was a bit embarrassing.
Great cliffhanger - I bet very few people didn't watch the next week preview.
With so many Cybermen all over the world I hope we don't finish with a deus ex machina ending. I don't want to see Rose look into the heart of the TARDIS again.
This weekend I can watch the end of the series and start again with the Christmas Invasion on digital TV!! |

I just saw this episode last night and I couldn't sleep after seeing it. This episode was amazing!!!!! Totally amazing!!!!! If I could swear on this forum I'd swear my pants off!!!
My partner and I both screamed at the end of this episode!
I was totally suprised and shocked to see the Daleks back, that was totally unexpected. This has the be the most amazing and exciting episode this season. Words can't describe how excited I am. I can't wait till next week now!!!!!!!
When the trailer for next weeks episode came on I ran around the house with my fingers in my ears singing so I wouldn't see and hear the trailer for next week. What a way to end the season, Cybermen and Daleks in the one story. I'm so sad that the season has come to an end but I can't wait till Christmas!!! |

Haha! I love ghostbusters and really wasnt expecting that. I wonder if that was all planned or if someone just realised on the day of the shoot that it all looked very similar. I hope it was the latter.
very good ep |

In hindsight I was hoping Davros would be in there, especially with all the references to "Genesis of the Daleks" |

| I wouldn't mind seeing Davros back ONCE more. just to see what they do with him. But if they brought him back they'd have to go to past and not the future. I'm sick of him living on and on and on. |

I'm pretty sure that RTD has clearly stated that Torchwood takes place for Captain Jack sometime AFTER his ressurection in The Parting of the Ways.
How he gets back from the year 200,100 to the 21st century remains a mystery. For now... |

(I'm certain this must have been raised by someone else at some time).
If "Dalek" takes place in 2012 ....
And "Doomsday" takes place in 2006 .....
And Van Staten "owns" the internet .....
all that information and alien artifacts to track down and collect ....
Surely someone would have seen a photo of thousands of "Metaltrons" flying over London 6 years earlier, and surely someone in Torchwood survived to hear and use the word "Dalek" ....
Arr ... writing for a time travel show .... you really have to prepare storylines 30 years ahead ..... |

What more is there to say than what everyone here has put forth? This rocked. Dr Who at its best.
And Daleks vs Cybermen - how has it taken 43 years for this to happen? It's the showdown that's meant to be. |

| A few hours ago saw the ad with the voiceover saying that it is the episode people must before seeing the season final. It looked pretty good. |
