Scare:
When this episode I was thinking this cannot be real; Lana all of a sudden ditching Jason for Clark. This turns to be a bad dream and Jason wasn't the only one to have one with disastrous circumstances. All this as a result of a toxin from an experiment at LexCorp.
Lex asked a good question to Clark of how he got into the plant since TV.com pointed out that Clark and Chloe came in using Chloe's dad's security pass; why would that work since he doesn't work there anymore.
Although part of it was shown during the preview, the way that Clark's dream came about was still surprising.
Lex's dream was horrifying but beautifully well done at the same time. Found out from TV.com that there was an alternate dream sequence for Lex on disk 3 of the season 4 DVD:

"On disk 3 of the Smallville Season 4 DVD set, there is an alternate dream sequence for Lex Luthor near the end of the episode. After he gives himself the vaccine, he dreams that he is about to get married. It is then revealed that the person he is about marry is actually his mother, who starts to blame Lex for his brother's death. She then talks about how he is on a path to destruction. Lex responds furiously by strangling his mother before being woken up by Clark."

I wonder who got Lionel out and it seems it definitely someone that he knows. It is somehow convenient that he gets released while Smallville was distracted from the effects of the toxin. His release seems to have gone unnoticed since it would have made front page news.

In the July issue of the Foxtel guide there is a small interview with Tom Welling as Smallville will soon makes its debut on July 1 on FOX8 at 8:30pm.
He said that as a kid he demanded to be dressed up as Superman for two years in a row, that Christopher Reeve was a great guy and knows more about Superman than anybody he has met. Tom also says that he watches the show daily to see what the director does.

Here is an interesting curio: the episode that was shown on July 6 was Unsafe. Six nights later 10 showed the House episode which was called......Safe. Funny how 10 showed episodes from two different shows each meaning the opposite to the other.

Recruit:
Here is an interesting question what did Clark do when all those girls were in the same room with him. If it had been me I definitely would not have gotten away from them but it is up to our imagination if anything happened with Clark and the girls.
Clark gets called C.K. from his initial and a reference to Jimmy Olsen calling him that in Lois & Clark.
I thought it was a very honourable decision Clark made in giving up football.
Chloe definitely got it right that Clark is destined to do great things. I wonder how long Chloe is going to keep from Clark that she knows about his powers.

The next episode on July 27 gets three stars from Who Magazine.

Sacred:
Dr Swann has died. With Christopher Reeve already passed on looks like it was decided that his character should follow suit.
Jason, Lex then Lana and Clark all end up being in China was quite fun.
The display of torture in this episode makes me think of 24.
What is the mystery behind Brigit Crosby?

Madds at Buffy Down Under has posted information saying that Smallville taken off the schedules again:
"tvaus.com

Quote:
Channel 10 announced today that they are dropping Smallville again.

We all know that it's not on this week, but it was scheduled to return next week. Now it's not.

So what fabulous New Program do they have to Replace it, I hear you asking? That would be 2 Repeat Episodes of The Simpsons.. seriously! "

Madds posted an update on this and Smallville will not be coming back on September 7. It is not clear if it is going to come back.

Last night while waiting for Veronica Mars caught a new ad of Smallville: a double episode will be shown on Friday October 20 at 7:30pm. The ad looked really good. However do not know at this time whether this is just a one-off for now or if 10 is resuming the program from this point in time.

Found out that Smallville's return is not a one off and following from the double episode this week, single episodes will be shown from Friday October 27.

Ageless:
This episode is about the value of parenthood but unfortunately it was way too sad for my liking.

The penultimate episode of season 4 on November 10 gets three stars from Who Magazine and it is its highlight of the day and the season final on November 17 is TV WEEK's Pick of the Day.

Commencement:
Best. Season. Final. Ever.
In fact best season final of any show I have seen this year. I mean don't get me wrong Doctor Who: Doomsday was excellent but even that looked small in comparison to this.
Loved the Superman in-jokes beginning with Lois saying that she had a nightmare of a guy in a red cape!
Love the countdown clock.
A very lovely scene between Clark and Lana.
Jason appears for perhaps the last time since Jensen Ackles became a lead in Supernatural after this season and oh my he sure was scary.
Wow the sight of the meteor strikes not to mention that ending.

From next week James Marsters finally arrives in Smallville as 10 goes straight to season 5.

Arrival:
The start of season 5 and wow what a brand new title sequence and yippee Erica Durance becomes a regular.
Now I knew that James Marsters was going to appear but didn't expect another familiar Buffy face to appear - Leonard Roberts.
James is not in the regular credits and is credited as "Special Guest Star" but doesn't appear until the end. Interestingly as TV.com points out his entrance to Smallville season 5 is similar to that of Angel season 5:
"This is the second time James Marsters has appeared in this manner at the end of the first episode of the fifth season of a TV series. The first was on Angel ("Conviction") where he reassembled in a similar way."
The best part of this episode was when Lois made a joke of the roof crashing down, I laughed then all of a sudden the explosion came out of nowhere.
The Phantom Zone appears. Should have known it would turn up on the show sooner or later.
Clark no longer has superpowers makes for interesting storylines ahead.

What the Hell?! I sat down to watch to watch this for the first time in a year to see the classic fortress of solitude scene and that was good but I couldn't tell what was hapening in the rest of the show. It's harder to catch up on than a soap 20yrs in! The what happened last time bit didn't help either. All I could pick up was a meteor shower something about stones and the villians from Superman1 (the movie from the 80's or whenever).
The fortress was cool though

Exposed:
John Schneider is reunited with his Dukes of Hazzard brother Tom Wopat but did not know until a few days ago that he was going to be in the same episode with Lois in the striptease.
Lois in that club was something I have been aware of for sometime now and finally got to see it, this particular aspect of the episode was worth the wait. Lois in the American flag bikini makes me think of Bessie Bardot in the Australian flag bikini (if anyone happen to have seen Bessie in that particular bikini). Well that is what I call patriotism.
With Senator Jennings (Wopat) out of the race for reelection he gives hint that Jonathan may run. Jonathan vs Lex. Why not?
Overall the episode was not spectacular and was barely passable.
