Also I think the sisters are Macgyver fans above and beyond being RDA fans...

Saw Don S. Davis in the Andromeda episode The Eschatology of Our Present on FOX8 last night in a very emotional role. He is not first SG-1 star to appear in Andromeda as Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge had appeared on the show earlier on.

It's quite ironic (or slack by Channel 7) that the season 9 DVD will be released locally on August 16th, when less then a third of the season would have been aired locally on TV ??

SG-1 was a special subject in last night's Einstein Factor.

From Stargate News Australia:
"SG-1 Fan Cassie Wins On Einstein Factor

The Einstein Factor is a comedic quiz run by Australian comedian Peter Berner on the Australian television network ABC TV, it's made up of a panel three experts known as the Brain's Trust who compete against three contestants.

Tonights episode saw a Stargate SG-1 fan Cassietake on two other contestants whose subjects were, JS Bach (Ian), The life and career of Judy Garland (David) while Cassie's subject was Stargate SG-1 seasons 1 to 7, with topical questions asked every now and then.

It was touch and go but Cassie came away with the win with 1400 points with Ian on 1350 and David 1150, she seemed a little overwhelmed by the win but managed to put on a brave face. Well done Cass

Be sure to keep your eye on the Einstein Factor (ABC TV 6.30pm Sundays) Cassie will be back for a playoff over the next couple of weeks. Einstein Factor, Sundays, ABC TV 6.30pm."

It was indeed a close game as there were three questions that she could have easily answered but didn't during the game:
In Round 1 she passed on the questions of who developed the series and the name of the President that William Devane plays. The answers being Jonathan Glassner & Brad Wright and Henry Hayes respectively.
Also in Round 2 she did not get it right about Rear Window being the remake of the Hitchcock classic that Christopher Reeve.

Having said that I am glad she won in the end.

Knew that SG-1 was going to be a special subject the moment Peter Berner said in his intro about rings to the gate of the universe.

Cassie is an archaeologist hence her interest in SG-1 and this made Peter Berner to ask whether she would find in one of her digs the guy who used to play MacGuyver. Another funny thing that happened was in the true and false question about the planet Chulak being home of the aliens known as the Smarti (yeah right!!). Cassie decided to passed it to the Brains Trust and thank goodness they said false. (Chulak is the home of the Jaffa.)

Stargate SG1 is a favourite of mine but I can`t get into Atlantis.
SG1 is a good follow on from the film because it doesn`t always take itself seriously (although it does sometimes feel like it`s a vehicle for Mr O`Neils` alter ego). Atlantis, on the other hand, feels laboured and formulaic. I just couldn`t take to it.

Last night at my club I saw the first six episodes of SG-1 season 10. Episode 10.3 came as a big surprise to me while 10.6, the 200th episode, appropriately named 200 is absolutely fantastic. 200 is full of sci fi references even a Doctor Who one. 200 would most likely to be shown on 7 late next year so it would quite a long wait to people who are only seeing the episodes on 7 and not by any other way but all I can say that the reference came straight out of the blue.

We also saw Sci Fi Inside: Stargate SG-1's 200th Episode on the making of the said 200th episode. It was very hilarious.

Last night I finished watching the 2001 TV movie The Triangle which I recorded on 7 a couple of weeks ago as it was its midday movie on that day. To my surprise it featured David Hewlett in the cast. It was about the Bermuda Triangle and he was not the only Stargate person to be involved in a story about it. The Sci Fi miniseries which was about the Bermuda Triangle which was also called The Triangle and shown earlier in the year on 9 was co-written and executive produced by Dean Devlin.

Yes Cassie was indeed back for the play-off last night on The Einstein Factor.

However she lost out in the end to Christine for her special subject of Princess Diana.

The final result was:
Cassie 1400
Kathleen (Harry Potter) 1100
Christine 1750

Somehow I knew it was a bad omen that she missed out on six questions in the first round.

Also prior to the first round being started Peter Berner commented that Richard Dean Anderson is still better known as MacGyver. This is despite the fact that he played Jack O'Neill slightly longer than he did as MacGyver. Makes me wonder whether there are MacGyver fans who react in exactly the same way that Patty and Selma did in that Simpsons episode upon hearing him being in SG-1.

Last night at my uni sci fi club I got to see the first three episodes of Atlantis season 3. Episode 3.3 is an absolute delight although the plot maybe familiar to a lot of people is all I am going to say.

Prior to Collateral Damage being on, Beau Bridges was seen briefly in the preview at the end of My Name Is Earl as the next episode from that show featured another appearance of him as Earl's dad.
SG-1 is now on at 11:30pm as a result of 7 deciding to show double episode repeats of Family Guy beforehand.
A brief comment about Collateral Damage: the identity of the murderer was definitely unexpected.

Beau Bridges was great in the My Name Is Earl episode Dad's Car prior to seeing him in Ripple Effect.

My favourite part of Ripple Effect was when all the Sam Carters were in the same room and when baddie Mitchell found out he had been tricked.

Last night my uni sci fi club had a screening of the first seven episodes of MacGyver starring Richard Dean Anderson and with Terry Nation producing from episode 2. It was quite a fun night with a lot of fun moments. At the end of the screening the person who bought the DVDs to the screening said that Anderson should have continued to play MacGyver but someone else pointed out that he would not have gotten to play Jack O'Neill. Just a few hours after this screening saw Anderson briefly in the SG-1 season 8 episode Death Knell. I wasn't rewatching this episode in full, I just had TV1 on briefly while setting a timer record for The Bionic Woman.
