the solution, which i think the doctor did... if it isnt just some dream i had that i'm confusing with reality... is very smart!

The matter given (two identical beings, one of whom always lies and the other of whom always tells the truth) is a common variation a common variation of the so-called 'Liar's paradox', originated (as far as we know) in the 4th century BC by Eubelides of Miletus. Eubelides wrote, 'A man says he is lying. Is what he says true or false?' There's no solution to that one.

For those really concerned, this one turns up in the Jon Pertwee story The Green Death.

I'm not sure when it was turned into a logical problem ('There are two identical whatevers. One of them always tells the truth, the other one always lies. If you wanted to know something, what would you ask them?') although it appears to be tuied up with the Cretan seer Epimenides in the 6th Century (athough he didn't use this story as far as we know...).

This one was used in Pyramids of Mars, featuring Tom Baker. The solution given is a standard one.

As for the legend of the Minotaur in the Labyrinth, it's a standard Greek myth which can be found usually by looking for the stories aboiut Theseus. It's made three distinct appearances in Doctor Who:

In The Mind Robber, featuring Patrick Troughton.

In The Time Monster, starring Jon Pertwee.

Finally, in Ton Baker's The Horns of Nimon, although a little less directly than the previous two.

Tonight's season 9 finale of Stargate SG-1 on 7 at 11:20pm is definitely one that Who fans should see. Watch carefully and you will understand why.

Did anyone see Rove Live the other night? In the U2 interview, Rove made some "underworld" music, which was clearly the Doctor who theme.

Yesterday while watching The Long Game on UKTV came this ad which started off with a clip from Bad Wolf which shows The Weakest Link in the future with the Anne Droid disintegrating a contestant. The voiceover said that game shows might look something like this. At this time I thought it was strange this gets shown now since Bad Wolf isn't scheduled to be screened on UKTV until four weeks from now. Then the ad shows Anne Robinson in person. It was an ad for The Weakest Link (as it is today) with the voiceover said that until then, the future, we the viewers have to settle for the real thing ie the non-robot, non-disintegrating type of game shows.

Minogue has added several tracks from 1997's Impossible Princess album, a creative high but a sales disappointment for the star at the time.

Minogue goes Dalek with dialogue from cult sci-fi TV show Dr Who introducing Can't Get You Out of My Head, followed by robotic album track Light Years, another new addition.

At two-and-a-half hours, the new show is now longer than those on the British leg.

I only just picked this up, despite watching the DVD millions of times... on The Micallef P(r)ogram(me), Series Three, in the sketch about "these foreign invaders are putting the final nail in the coffin of the death of the Australian funeral industry", Shaun Micallef is dressed up as Death... wearing a sign saying "I AM FOREMAN FUNERAL COMPANY". I'm not sure why this relates to An Unearthly Child though... unless it's something to do with the Hand of Omega in Remembrance of the Daleks? If so, Shaun is the biggest Who nerd ever. Haha.

On the Simpsons when Homer is a boxer, they go into a techno gadgets store and all the items are arranged on hexagonal tables with panels that look very similar to the console panel.

In the commentary they make constant references to Who - I believe in Series 3's The Medusa Touch, when the guy dies at the end, the shot of his hand under the bricks is apparently the "Davros" shot. And whenever someone enters a house that is obviously smaller on the outside than inside... well. Obvious what they say really.

Just to cement my Micallef being a fan theory, in the Incompleat Shaun Micallef DVD, in a Milo Kerrigan (the retarded boxer) sketch, Milo says in French "Knock knock, who's there, Doctor Who, yes I am him". Which has nothing at all to do with the sketch (which is actually about art).

There are a bunch of Doctor Who references in Little Britain. Here they are, straight from Wikipedia:

* In Jeremy Rent's Office in the pilot episode, you can see a picture of Tom Baker (the show's narrator) in his Fourth Doctor costume on the wall.
* In an Andy and Lou sketch from Series 2, some yobs shout abuse at them in the park. Andy snaps and beats them up when they shout, "Oi, Davros!" — Davros is the (similarly wheelchair-bound) creator of the Daleks.
* At least three characters are named after actors who have portrayed Doctor Who companions: Matthew Waterhouse played Adric, a companion of the Fourth and Fifth Doctors; Michael Craze played the First and Second Doctor's companion Ben Jackson; and Mark Strickson portrayed Vislor Turlough, a Fifth Doctor companion.
* One of the Judy & Maggie (Women's Institute) sketches in Series 2 features actor Paul Darrow as a Conservative MP. He played Avon in Blake's 7, as well as roles in the Doctor Who stories "Doctor Who and the Silurians" and "Timelash".

I've always wondered, is Vicki Pollard a reference to Vicki and Charley? Perhaps, perhaps not. Knowing Lucas and Walliams though, most likely.
