You can catch a snippet of "Brothers" on the Mark of the Rani DVD.

Good points all.

Personally I can't stand Jack Black, (except in School of Rock, and that was mainly for the AC/DC music anyway) but I'd put Tom Baker way ahead of Black in just about any department one would care to mention.

You're probably right about Colin Baker not being all that well known before his role as the Doctor. I only knew him from that one role as a Gallifrean guard, but public profile is only a small part of accomplishment as an actor.

I never saw Brothers. Did it air in Australia at all? I understand Baker came in after a few seasons to the show, but I don't know much about it.

It seems we agree on pretty much all but a few minor details anyway. The main thing is that there hasn't been a Doctor I didn't like, with the possible exception of Peter Cushing in those two 60s movies. Twisted Evil

Back to the Topic and I remember Phill Colinson saying there will be no returning Monsters or villans this year from the show past?

Now is this him just waiting till the launch of the new series and not wanting to give anything away early or is he telling the truth.

I'd like to see the whole year without any recurring villan. I too would like to see new classic monsters and villans in the making a return as in the early pertwee years.

It's strange, when Boomtown was previewed I was actually excited to see the return of the Slitheen? Why, is what I ask myself? Can anyone help me here?

I say I really enjoy the story Boomtown. If I feel stressed I put it on and it helps me relax.

A lot of things announced by the Beeb, Collinson and others have proved to be red herrings. I'd rather not see the Rani myself, she wasn't a villain so much as a mad scientist, and they do get a bit boring after a while.

New monsters and villains, and far more space based stories is waht I'd like to see.

Series three is pretty much set now, and I don't hold out much hope for off earth stories, but you never know. The Pertwee era being mired on Earth, and mostly modern day, was my least favourite period of Doctor Who.

I think the Rani would be the PERFECT character to reintroduce to the new series. The Doctor hates her, she's the complete opposite of him and would undoubtedly be plotting something sinister... but would he be able to bring himself to destroy her, or would guilt and loneliness cloud his judgement (at least temporarily)? After all, if she really was the last of his species...

Oh, and someone mentioned about The Doctor having a son... well, he did admit to Rose that he was once a father (in Fear Her). So you never know!

The Rani would be an interesting choice but I'd love it if they kept away from Time Lords for awhile- maybe bring them back at the death of the 10th doc??

In a television interview RTD rubbished this rumour and said it would be better for him to create his own time lady.

I wouldn't cry if she returned- I'd be interested! But I don't think she'll turn up anytime soon........
