I think there is a real variation in the quality of the commentary on the DVDs. I feel the actors involved in the series are far more interesting to listen to rather than production staff (although they are better informed about the technical aspects of the show). For position of best among the actors I would nominate probably Colin Baker or Peter Davison. I find Tom to of course be a bit odd and on a different planet at times. Sylvester is a bit bland and almost sounds disinterested. Colin seems more informed about the show but Peter is often a little easier going and more affable. Janet Fielding I have to say is the most annoying (could she be anymore negative at times - listen to the commentary on Earthshock for instance - why does she turn up if she dispises the show so much?). Most of the actors are entertaining - maybe Janet is just a one off? William Russell does an excellent job as well. Frazer Hines is terribly funny. As for production staff: Graeme Harper was quite funny in The Caves of Androzani. Philip Hinchcliffe obviously got a mind like a steel trap and is highly informed and proud (rightfully) about his era but I find him so dull and a bit stern. The zaniest of all would have to be Katy Manning!

I'd be interested to know what other people think as in some ways I prefer to watch the DVDs with the commentary most of the time!!!

Janet Fielding is my favourite commentator. I find her commentaries hilarious; especially Earthshock and the Visitation. I can't wait for the New Beginnings boxset for Tom and Janet to do commentary together, I think that'll be very entertaining.

Colin Baker and Peter Davison commentaries are always awesome Very Happy

The 60's ones are probably the worst, they just seem a bit of a chore for me to listen to sometimes.

The best commentary on DVDs is usually found on The Tomorrow People - irreverant, full of the most trivail of trivia, gossipy and smutty, they are lots of fun!

On Doctor Who, I tend to enjoy the Davison commentaries the most. Davison seems to really enjoy doing these, and he's happy to take the micky out of the show. Add in Janet Fielding, and they become even more enjoyable!
