Four minutes of The Runaway Bride was shown in the recent Doctor Who Children In Need concert:

Based on what I saw, I have a feeling that The Runaway Bride is going be way better than last year's Christmas Invasion.

I haven't been able to view the four minute yet, but it'd have to be REALLY good to be better then the Christmas Invasion. That was such a great story!!!

After watching that, I have to say that I too believe it will be better than The Christmas Invasion (which was not brilliant but not at all crap in my view. In between).
That said, I find myself picking apart the logic of the trailer already - for those who don't want to know, I'll put a spoiler (though really, if you don't want to know why enter this thread? But anyway)...
How on Earth can the TARDIS just chase a car down the road? I didn't mind it corresponding to the Doctor's thoughts, but since when has the TARDIS been a vehicle? This seems to work absolutely against what the TARDIS is supposed to be.
Despite this, an excellent and exhilirating scene. I'm excited. |

I don't know... there never seems to be a policeman around when these people are on the road! |

I can now happily say that I'VE SEEN THE WHOLE THING! There's this person on youtube called RKdrwhofan and they posted the whole show in 6 parts. It's actually pretty darn good. It made me cry a couple of times, but hey, I cry a lot. I'm posting a link to the first part if anyone's interested. If you want more, just visit RKdrwhofan's profile.

Is that any more silly than the Doctor using a cricket ball to propel himself towards the Tardis in Four To Doomsday? Or putting a bit of spin on the Tardis to escape a meteor collision in The Horns of Nimon? Or towing the earth ship from the black hole in The Satan Pit?
Those are just a couple of examples I can think of off the top of my head where the Tardis has been used in the same way it was in The Runaway Bride. |

Of course it isn't. Haha, I agree with you. But from what I've gathered from numerous explanations over the years, I've always assumed that the TARDIS exterior is physical in its presence but really just a door... and that it doesn't therefore move around.
But you're right, I guess RTD isn't breaking the rules then. |

I thought the Runaway Bride was no where near as good as The Christmas Invasion. Though it would be hard to beat it, such a great story! I still really enjoyed the Runaway Bride. I got a lot of laughs out of it.
I was really disappointed with the Racno thing, given the size of her body and those nasty legs she could of done a lot more then just stand there giving orders and hissing. Any old alien or human could of done what she did. Such a shame, the creature looked like it had a lot more potential at being a menace then was actually seen.
Something I never thought would happen in the new series is that the Doctor's home planet was mentioned. What a surprise!
I liked Donna, she gave the show a breath of air.
All in all a fun, enjoyable story but could of been a lot better.
I think my partner had to scrape me off the lounge after I saw the preview for season 3!! Woo hoo, I can't wait! |
