Why was it "delightful"?
It's quiet a common practice for the BBC to include clips from DW in various science related documentaries. I wish they'd get over it and stop doing it. Anyone watching the doco who'd never heard of DW, (yes, they do exist), would probably be wondering what was going on.
I was more interested in the program itself.
- I was unaware that the 4 major asteroids between Mars & Jupiter had once been considered "planets". (Although "Uranus" originally being named "George" always sticks in my mind).
- The discover of the "10th Planet" and it's moon; initially named Xena and Gabrielle; now named Eris and Dysnomia; (someone has a sense of humour), and how it was done.
- The solar system just got 3 times bigger.
From not knowing what the dark side of the moon looked like to this in just a few years. That's impressive.
Sadly, now that SBS has gone all commercial, programmes like this are going to get cut to bits. |
