Last night at my club saw SG-1 10.7 to 10.10 and Atlantis 3.4. Of the episodes 10.8 was very good, 10.9 had a very good teaser and the ending to 10.10 is definitely something to see.
Atlantis 3.4 was not spectacular but still pretty much enjoyable. |

Jewel Staite to return to Atlantis:
Warning the article mentioned the character she played in the season 2 episode Instinct which has not yet been aired on 7:
http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/10/jewel_staite_returning_to_iatlan.shtml
"Jewel Staite returning to Atlantis
Monday - October 30, 2006 | by Darren Sumner
Actress Jewel Staite has landed a new recurring role on Stargate Atlantis, according to her latest update on her Web site.
According to fan site SG1-Atlantis.com, Atlantis actor Joe Flanigan told fans at last weekend's London’s Expo event that Staite will appear in a whopping 13 to 15 episodes in Season Four.
Staite previously appeared on Atlantis under prosthetics, playing the Wraith girl Elia in Season Two's "Instinct."
"I can confirm that I will be coming on to Stargate Atlantis for a few episodes," Staite wrote on her site. "I still have no idea who I'm playing, but I do know it's female. I hope. Anyway, I'm really excited to be going back, and they're a great bunch of people and -- major plus! -- it shoots at home! So watch for that next season."
Born in British Columbia, the 24-year-old actress is best known as Kaylee Frye on Firefly and the spin-off feature film, "Serenity." She has also appeared on Wonderfalls, The X-Files, Da Vinci's Inquest, and more.
Details on Staite's new role are not yet known." |

Teryl had already appeared in a couple of earlier episodes while another SG-1 recurring actor Gary Jones (Walter) appeared briefly in a much earlier episode in the episode Reaping Havoc.
From the previews Tom McBeath will appear in at least one more episode of Dead Like Me. |
Dead Like Me casting update:
This morning I saw Bill Dow (Dr Lee) in the Dead Like Me episode Ashes to Ashes. Like Gary Jones' appearance in Reaping Havoc his appearance on the show was brief. |

However she lost out in the end to Christine for her special subject of Princess Diana.
The final result was:
Cassie 1400
Kathleen (Harry Potter) 1100
Christine 1750
Somehow I knew it was a bad omen that she missed out on six questions in the first round.
Also prior to the first round being started Peter Berner commented that Richard Dean Anderson is still better known as MacGyver. This is despite the fact that he played Jack O'Neill slightly longer than he did as MacGyver. Makes me wonder whether there are MacGyver fans who react in exactly the same way that Patty and Selma did in that Simpsons episode upon hearing him being in SG-1. |
Christine was back in last night's Einstein Factor and therefore Stargate got briefly mentioned by Peter Berner as it was one of the subjects that Christine had beaten. |

Amanda Tapping to appear in Atlantis season 4:
http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/11/tapping_gates_to_iatlantisi_for_.shtml
""Samantha Carter" actress Amanda Tapping will appear in the fourth season of Stargate Atlantis in some capacity, she told fans this weekend at the AT2 event in England.
Tapping signed on for two additional years of Stargate SG-1 last year, anticipating an eleventh season of the show in 2007. SCI FI instead cancelled the series, but the studio plans to keep Tapping around to complete her current contract.
"I am contractually obligated to the franchise for a year. I knew at the beginning of Season Ten that it was a possibility that if SG-1 went down that I might be doing some Atlantis," Tapping told GateWorld in an interview. "They exercised that option, which is fine.
"I think that this is a potential for a bit of fun. More than Carter and McKay. I think that this is a potential for a lot of fun."
No details about the move are known yet, including how many episodes Tapping will appear in and whether she will have the status of a recurring guest star or a regular cast member. Rumors of cast changes are in the winds following the August cancellation of Stargate SG-1, but still not confirmed.
The actress also announced that she is producing and starring in a new science fiction project, currently seeking funding."
Meanwhile here are some other casting news that I have found with some spoilers:

If people have noticed from their tv guides, this week's Atlantis is the last for the year despite season 2 being on 7 for a couple of weeks now.
Well last night during The O.C. saw an ad for the season 2 DVD. It was released today:

So if have not yet seen the rest of the season, impatient with 7 and can afford it, perhaps the DVD is the option for you. |

A new Stargate series is in development to replace SG-1:
http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/12/exclusive_third_istargatei_serie.shtml
Just as I found out about this new Stargate series, I saw Gary Jones and Gary Chalk today on Sci Fi in the Sliders episode Time Again And World (which also featured one Will Sasso). This was aired in 1996 the year before SG-1 made its debut.
Watching this episode just as SG-1 will finish in a few months time makes this sort of full circle for me. |

Michael Shanks has been approached to star in the new series:
http://stargate-sg1-solutions.com/blog/?p=720
"Now Stargate SG1 Solutions can exclusively reveal that SG1’s Michael Shanks, who plays Dr. Daniel Jackson on the show, has already been approached to star in the third Stargate series! We were informed by a source close to the production that Shanks would be lead actor and Daniel Jackson the main character in the spinoff.
Fans of the actor and the character will be thrilled to note that Shanks was approached to star in the spinoff before the concept has even been firmed up!
There’s no word yet on whether Shanks will be accepting the role. The actor has proven savvy in the past, wanting to commit only to projects that have ‘legs’ and will be more than a one-season wonder, and is also protective of the character he portrays, having left the production for its 6th season when he felt Daniel was being under-utilised. He would be wise, however, to consider the cachet being a series lead would add to his resume for future projects. In the entertainment industry, lead naturally carries greater weight and status than second lead.
The many fans of the sizzling chemistry between Daniel Jackson and the roguish Vala Mal Doran, played by Claudia Black, will no doubt be gearing up to lobby The Powers That Be at Bridge Studios in Vancouver urging Wright and Cooper to secure Shanks and Black as their male and female leads.
SG1 leading lady Amanda Tapping will be moving across to sister production Atlantis as Samantha Carter for a yet to be confirmed number of episodes of its fourth season while actor and writer Christopher Judge is working on a pilot script." |

Michael Shanks has NOT been approached for the new series:
http://www.michaelshanks-online.com/news/index.shtml
"Spin-off rumors put to rest
Over the last few days there has been some speculation regarding a 3rd series in the Stargate franchise, and the reported news that Michael Shanks has been approached to star in the series.
We have just received confirmation from Michael via his publicist that the information regarding his reported involvement in the series is "completely unfounded and unsubstantiated. No one has contacted Michael with any such news/offerings/ideas, etc."
As far as Michael is concerned, this is "just an unfounded rumor."" |

Last night to my absolute surprise I saw Don S. Davis in The West Wing episode In God We Trust on the ABC. He plays an unsuccessful candidate for the Republican presidential nomination. The character was also considered but ultimately not interested in the vice presidential nomination.
Davis brought out an excellent performance with this character.
Also in TV WEEK, the Gateworld website is the Top Site in the latest issue thanks to a letter by Robert. |

I browse through Stargate Magazine a couple of hours ago and found out that David Hewlett has posted on his blog that former Dead Like Me star Laura Harris has appeared in an episode of Atlantis.
Can't wait to see her on the show.
Since my last two posts I have seen episode 3.7 and I only find it to be ok. |

| On the topic of Star Gate series, I thought the quality of SG1 dropped after season 8. I wonderwhether it has something to with Richard Dean Anderson leaving? |
