Not entirely sure if this is the right area for this thread so move it if you wish.
I was just thinking isn't it going a bit too far with 2 spin-offs on top of the normal show? I don't know about anybody else but i would rather a longer season of Doctor Who and drop the others (not saying the others are crap or anything though). Opinions? |

There's at least method to the BBC's decision to spin off other series.
First we have Doctor Who, designed to be for the whole family. Then we have the adult-oriented Torchwood, and finally the children's show featuring Sarah (has it finally settled on a title?).
If all three were aimed at the one group, then over-kill would probably be achieved. But what they've done insted is set it up so that there are two programs for younger viewers and two for grown ups.
Of course, many fans will watch all three... |

I think we'd all love an extra 9 episodes of Dr Who, but compared to most other TV on the UK, Dr Who is pretty spoilt because most UK TV shows are 6 to 8 episodes long.
So even though we don't get as many episodes at the US does with there TV series, we get a pretty good length.
Including the Christmas specials we are getting 14 episodes a year and I think about the same screen time as Dr Who in the 70's and early 80's. So I think we are doing well.
