| Slightly off-topic, but I should just say I found the White Stripes parody in last night's episode absolutely hilarious. Probably the only brilliant joke amidst a bunch of other boring ones in the season, but you can't have everything can you...? (I didn't actually finish watching the episode) |

| Getting back on topic, I just saw the trailer. It looks so good. I've got a feeling this is gonna be one of the biggest movie events ever. |

Mmmmm ........ seem to recall those kind of comments leading up to "Star Wars - Episode I", which was a big, big disapointment.
It'll probably be OK, more advanced 2D animation, but based on the last few years of writing I can't think of any plot that hasn't been done before, or any that could possibly pad a film out for 80 minutes. |

| On the other hand, only with a positive attitude can you enjoy something in the first place. Just like all those people who despise the New Series specifically because of what THEY wanted to see. They can't see it for what it is. I'm going to be approaching this Simpsons movie with the same attitude I do every Simpsons episode... none. *does Krabappel laugh* (And no, I can't spell it) |

Oh dear. I'd have to disagree with that. I've gone to many a film in my day with a positive attitude only o be greatly disappointed, as mentioned see "Star Wars: Episode I"; and then "Episode II". (And every odd numbered Star Trek film). I waited for "Episode III" was available os a cheap rental DVD and skipped through it at home. It was really bad.
And I've gone to many a film in my day feeling very down in the dumps, expecting nothing and having a wonderful time and completely enjoying myself. And fortunately I've had more experiences like that the the other.

Have to admit I haven't meant anyone who "despises" the new series myself. I actually like the new approach, reseting the clock to "zero" and (more or less) starting from scratch. I can understand people not liking too many changes. It's like everHollywood film based on an old tv series. They often change it so much they only thing they retain is the title. And as I always say, don't like it, don't watch it.

Considering the amount of revenue "The Simpsons" raises, and has raised for Fox over the last 20 years, I'll be expecting the film to deliver something more than just an extended tv episode with re-cycled jokes and plots. The tv series has been "phoned in" for the last 10 years and there's no excuse for that.
The film will be hyped to death before it appears, so it had better be good. |

Well please forgive me if I expect to see the Simpsons when I sit down to watch the Simpsons. |

I've tried three times to post a reply, but it keeps failing, so I'll just say what I meant in my original post: "think positive". I was talking about miniscule nitpicks.
And concerning Who fans, most will watch stories that they absolutely despise just for that "completist" aspect. So the "don't like it, don't watch it" thing doesn't always happen I'm afraid. You're right though.
charlie... umm... what on earth? I was talking about little nitpicks fans have. Not broad things like seeing the Simpsons in The Simpsons. |

Cool, not a problem. Always happy to chat. It'll be nice to see "The Simpsons" in widescreen at any rate, which makes me wonder why the tv show hasn't gone "wide" yet.
I believe OPTUS has broken today which may be the cause of some problems .... |

How about: Bart gets called up for service in Iraq and gets both his legs blown off, and is then dumped back in Springfield with no support and told to "suck it up and get on with his life" (minus legs). Much as is happening with a lot of the wounded soldiers returning. |
Well they got close. Recently Homer joined the army. Of course there are a few rather lame references to "failed overseas conflicts" and that's about it. (I wonder if it's anything to do with the Simpsons network "Fox" which supports the war). They even had a joke about having a joke about the number of different jobs Homer has had over the last 18 years. Sorry to all the fans out there but the show lost it's edge years back. It seriously needs to be retired.
Meanwhile; in an extremely similiar episode over on "Family Guy"; Stewie signs himself, and Brian (the talking Dog), up for a tour of duty in the Army. "The US Army - AWWW YEEEAHHH. Your experience may differ". And of course they get shipped off to Iraq straight after basic training. The scenes at the end with Stewie and Brian trying to get sent home, and the sudden arrival of "Democracy" are a scream. Think of all those iconic images of the conflict suddenly changing .......... |

Saw the movie today and first of all people should stay to watch the entire end credits as there are extra stuff on it.
As to the movie itself I really enoyed it. Very funny and well constructed.
Well done. |
