Someone just sent me this message:

In a statement made last night (i think) David tennant said:
"Where as Rose and the doctor's love was kind of held back, martha is much more open about her feelings... Will there be kissing? There might be one...and there might be another one later on..."

I've heard other news saying they openly flirt in bed with each other, and another confirming that there are 2 kisses, one of which was in the trailer. Now I've made it no secret that I've been wanting the Doctor and Rose to get together since the second episode, so when I found this out I was pissed! I'm so mad! Oh God, I feel like strangling whoever decided to do that! How am I going to watch those episodes? I think he does give her CPR in one bit, so that's okay, and hopefully in the second (as someone else said to me) he'll be hallucinating and think she's Rose and declare his love for her and that's the only reason he kisses her.

Okay, I know there are people here who actually couldn't give a damn about Rose, but seriously, I thought once she was out of it they'd be back to the classic aliens and adventure! How can they make them close?!

There is an article from this link that you might find interesting Monty: http://www.mirror.co.uk/showbiz/tm_headline=the--pound-1m-doctor&method=full&objectid=18796376&siteid=89520-name_page.html
But be warned, it does contain some minor spoilers.

Interesting that with this decision, two legions of fans will be pissed off... those who don't want the Doctor to have loving relationships at all... and those who thought Rose was perfect for the Doctor. In which case, that's a HUGE portion of the audience that isn't going to be rooting for this series (two double entendres in one sentence, me oh my).

Yep, that's me for Doctor/Rose and my dad and brother for Doctor/no one. Good work Russell!

Steady down all!

Jeez, how geeky can you get!

Warning Will Robinson! Girl Germs everywhere! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

I read it to be no more than a similarity to some of the Big Finish 8th Doctor stories! After a thousand or so years even a Meddling Monk's eye would start to wander.

He isn't going to settle down, drink beer, grow a paunch and become a Norm for crying out aloud!

All it will be is to prove the Doctor is only hum^D^D^D Gallifrean after all.

Frankly, I don't know what all the fuss is about. We don't know what the context of the kiss is (for all we know the Doctor might just be very, very happy about something), so it's too early to start shouting and stamping our feet about any potential Doctor/Martha pairings yet. Just chill out; if/when something happens, then we can start calling for RTD's blood. Wink

And besides, it's not as if Rose has a monopoly on the Doctor's feelings - he's loved companions before (even if he wasn't "in love" with them, which even in the New Series is debatable). Take Susan, Jamie(*), Jo, Sarah Jane, Romana, even Ace for example - the Doctor clearly had strong feelings for all of them, and IMO it isn't much of a stretch to call those feelings 'love'.

(*) = ooh err, there's a thought - 2nd Doctor/Jamie, anyone? Razz

Maybe the the producers are thinking "commercially" and a romantic angle might bring more viewers.

I fear Doctor Who becoming a British "Buffy". It worries me because in my opinion "Buffy" was a bubblegum Vampyre show I would view on occasion but never take seriously. Doctor Who was something different. I still like Doctor Who, but the Buffy angle worries me, that's all. Just a niggling fear. Smile

EDIT: I also don't think he would want to become romantically involved with someone so soon after meeting Sarah Jane once again and then losing Rose. Both women were close to his... umm... hearts.

Do you know the reason, for me, why the love angle doesn't work with Tennant, and in some ways Eccleston? They're both brilliant at portraying it, don't get me wrong. But it boils down to their character.

Hartnell, if we assume he had kids, was a granddad. So it seems natural for him to love - as long as he doesn't have sex I guess!

McGann was a romantic, not a lover. I've always felt that his kisses are just expressions of his pure happiness mixed with his Victorian flair.

But Tennant plays the whole love angle like a spotty teenager. He does it brilliantly, and in story terms it makes perfect sense. But it just makes me feel uneasy, because it just suddenly aludes to so many other shows. What other show has a granddad finding love? Or a man in a Victorian frock kissing an American? But a pseudo-teenager kissing a normal British girl... that just sounds too normal for me, that's all. It's weird that whenever critics tend to say an actor brings "humanity" in their interpretation of a role, it's a good thing (they said the same about Bond, many a time). For the Doctor, it's not, really.

And Tom N., what you said sounds remarkably like something said in Zagreus. But I don't think somehow that that's the love he feels for Rose, or potentially will for Martha.

You're comparing your favourite Doctor to Neighbours, charlie?!

Er, but yes, I take your point. Still, there's not all that many. I'll narrow it down; not granddad as such, but loopy old professor. There, that'll do it.

In a rather obscure way, it could be argued.

Doctor Who has been on the screen for 43 years.

Watching Neigh-Bores makes you feel like you've aged 43 years. It's like time travelling into the Australia of 1963.

Sadly, my daughter is an addict of The Show Which Dare Not Speak Its Name.

Mm. My sister is obsessed with its closest rival, although she maintains that "The Show Which Dare Not Speak Its Name" is somehow a lot crapper. However that works.

Ironically, I could sort of see Tegan (the character) fitting into one of those shows. I know you're probably going to kill me for saying that, but I seriously could. Of course, we all know Janet Fielding's a much better actress than those in those certain shows. Much, much better. Even Adric wins out.

If The Master is reading this, could I possible borrow a TCE? Just for a day or two. I promise I won't misuse it. Surprised

But I suppose work is work. Even former Doctors do ads.

You're forgiven. Wink

A text-to-speech Tom Baker. You could record that then put it through a Dalek voice coder and get a fourth Doctor Dalek.

Now that could make an interesting answering machine message. Twisted Evil

Or you could pretend to be Jon Culshaw pretending to be Tom Baker.

Actually and i don't want to give too much away, but things arent always what they seem when it comes to Doctor who....I was very unhappy when i watched the episode because I thought to myself he cant be over Rose that quick but when i saw the episode i was "ahhh thats why?" as for them flirting on a bed, I'm afraid that is one I cant answer because it gives too much away, but I have seen all of series 3 and its worth watching. Even though i found it very hard to warm to Martha Jones....she just isn't Rose
