|
|
Channel 10 has purchased TORCHWOOD apparantly.
(See ninemsm report).
That's a surprise.
Still; I'm sure it'll cheer up a lot of people.
I wonder what timeslot it'll get and how many commercial breaks?
Will it be on before Series 3 of DW. Unlikely; but ....
And Channel 10 describes it as "sexy new twist to the traditional COP show gene". I wonder if they think they've bought the English version of "Law & Order"? |

Gees, they're in for a shock, eh?
My guess is they'll tie it all in to Supernatural- I'm already pimping it to friends at school as "like Supernatural, but with aliens..."
Another other spins we can use to make converts and make Torchwood a ratings success (and therefore not relegated to a near midnoght slot)? |

I think so ...

A lack of "aliens" is something I found disappointing about Torchwood.
Beyond the Weavils who were largely "background"; we had a "gas alien" inhabiting the body of a young woman; a Cyberperson, (not technically an "alien" imho; and just an excuse for some sexplotation); some fairies; (do we consider supernatural creatures "aliens"; see ep.13 also); and that was about it; EXCEPT for "Mary The Alien". And again it was an alien inhabiting the body of a young woman.
Hopefully a few more next season. |

| I ran yp Channel 10 the other day and asked them when they put it on, please don't put it on in a late-night time slot. Just because it is Sci-Fi, doesn't mean that it gets put on late. |

Following their treatment of other SF shows, they'll run ads across the screen, take it off mid season and schedule it in the graveyard zone. But it's coming!
The latest news is Southern Cross Ten say they'll be taking it. |

Come on guys.
Broadcast TV is killing itself off one stupid decision at a time.
Asking them for anything is a waste of time, because the people who make the decisions, don't care about what you want, and DON'T watch the television they broadcast.
It's a rush to the bottom in FTA.
If you WANT to see a series, learn to bypass them. eg; buy the DVDs; or learn the code, nudge, nudge, wink, wink. |

Yip thats what they do these days! they did that with BSG(evn during the non-ratings period) I ended up getting the rest of the net.
Yes it's good news that torchwood is coming to Aussie TV but not on the commercial networks. |

It's safe to confirm that TORCHWOOD will be on Ten because I saw an ad for it today, now...what day are they most likely to put it on, and which programme will get the axe ?
P.S Captain Jack looked mighty fine. |

| The Ten publicist hasn't committed to a date/time yet. A rumour had it scheduled (then unscheduled!) for Friday evenings. |

Torchwodd starts June 30th at 7:30pm on Ten.
Just kidding ...... but I wouldn't be at all surprised. |

Well, it does have that ad where a counter switches over to 6.30 ... that could mean 30th June. However that's a Saturday, and they'd be showing the AFL.
They're really keeping tight lipped about it. Even on the ads they have shown, they don't even say the name of the show! |

They would have to make a lot of cuts to put it on during that PG timeslot! I suspect it will be on after 9.30pm! |

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they cut it to bits, it does run for 48 mins, and a commercial hour is (now on avaerage only) 43 mins or less, and ran it at 7:30pm.
Well "Primeval" is the "Saturday Night Smash Hit" according to Nien.
And both shows are similiar in concept.
On the other hand as it runs for 48mins, if they don't cut it, a late night timeslot is most likely so they can run it for 75 mins with commercilas.
I expect they haven't made a decision yet as to when to run it. They're just attempting to drum up some excitement about it; that's the way the commercial networks run.
Just look at how Ch.07 moved "Heroes" to avoid the football on nein. They don't want to "waste" it on a night they know most people will be watching something else.
Something that did occur to me. With DW returning June 30th, if Ch.10 started Torchwood around June 9th to June 16th the two shows would link up nicely. Two networks co-operating? Nah ....
BTW: everyone saw the "just kidding" line , didn't they, as it's also the DW start date? |

Nothing on it at the Channel Ten site (other than a few people asking when it is starting in their forums - and some people suggesting Channel Ten is stupid to have purchased a Doctor Who spin-off when they don't have the main show...)
If anyone finds out, let us know so forum members can be generally told. |

| I'm not sure who 'us' is in this case Martin. Do you work for Ten (I didn't have that impression earlier), or is it something that was revealed to your club? |

My negative attitude to TW has mellowed slightly since my first viewing. Maybe I'm desensitzed to the political overtones and more focused on the sci-fi stories.
'Countrycide' is extremely creepy. The scariest ep of the season. |
