HI Everyone,

I'm just learning how to make my own websites and I've spent all week on my Dr Who site. Mind you, it's been a lot of fun but I was wondering if the 'sonic screwdriver' cursor is a 'bit over the top'. Can I please have your opinion as I would value it coming from other Dr Who fans.

I hope everyone lucky enough to attend the gathering in Drummoyne tomorrow (Saturday) has a great time. I wish I could be there but I'm still up at Alstonville (between Ballina and Lismore) and that's not a bad location either Very Happy ~ except when 'good things' are happening elsewhere! Now if I had my own Tardis I'd be right, right? Laughing

Cheers all,
Jan

Sonic screwdrivers can, according to the New Series, do absolutely anything. I wouldn't be surprised if the Doctor does surf the net with his sonic. So nah, it's not over the top.

Thank you so much for your feedback ~ I was a bit concerned as some may have found it hard to navigate with. Personally, I like it. It's just a bit different. And I also absolutely love your flash animation in your sig file. How did you do that please?

Regards,
Jan

Er, I'm afraid I didn't. Sorry, I stole it from somewhere ages ago, and I'm buggered (sorry to the UK users for the use of that word) if I can remember where I got it. Sorry about that.

Personally I find non default cursors a bit hard to navigate with, I feel like my mouse is hijacked. But I am sure other people have differing opinions. If you are building a site I really guess it comes down to what YOU like, you are the one that designed it so you should be able to do what you like.

An analogy of that is a lounge room, you can design your lounge room how you like, if people come over and do not like how i have designed mine, I will take feedback from them but ultimately the decision is up to me in the end, after all I am the onle that lives there.

Ok enough , I think I am prattling on....

Hey Sec,

Thankyou for your feedback. I seriously appreciate it because when I ask I need to know people's response but I liked your analogy re the lounge room. Smile But just because I might like my 'loungeroom' a certain way I don't want my visitors to trip and break a leg just to get inside Laughing

I don't want to distract people's attention away from the content so I might leave it for a bit and see how others feel. KT thinks it's cool and as she is the major writer for our website (she has watched the series many times ~ I only watch them a few times!) I might leave it until she tells me NO! -no more please! Because I'll guarantee you one thing and that is that she'll tell me!

But I know how you feel about your mouse being hijacked~ I have a kids story Books site and it has a dancing pink Elephant as the cursor. Kids love it and that is why I put it there but it sure is a distraction.

Regards,
Jan

Alstonville is a beautiful spot!! I used to have relatives there, as well as in Byron and Kyogle, so I've spent a lot of time in the area.

Stay Alive!!

So true Wink

With a mobile phone (hes got one) and a sonic screwdriver the doctor can find out anything! (see the Runaway Bride)

The Doctor would probably have Graham Bell's number on his mobile, too (although it would probably just be "1"). All the famous people. There we are, that's why Rose rarely travels away from home - she can simply ring up famous people and talk to them. No travelling required.
