Steven Moffat gets my vote. He just understands Doctor Who and i have yet to be dissapointed by any story he has written.

Thank the lord that Shearman didn't bring Davros back. I love that line "you would make a good dalek" in 6 words he makes us realise that no matter how much we hate the enemy, no matter how much we KNOW they are evil, no matter who is against them, we are really all the same and if we were in their position we might do the same thing.

Social Policy at work there......the Dalek aren;t that different to the human race

The original Daleks arrived in 1963, less than 20 years after the end of the war. They were then and remain a thinly disguised representation of Hitler and the Nazis of the second world war.

So symbolically they are a part of the human race. Even the way they talk and what they say reminds one of Hitler.

"Advance and attack! Attack and destroy! Destroy and rejoice!"

( The Chase ) Smile

I have to go for Steven Moffat as well, but I really hope we get another script from Shearman at some point.

Me too, but I would prefer an original story to an adaption like Dalek, Human Nature or Blink.

In the case of the Daleks though, 'marginalised' means:

"Is it moving?" Exterminate it.

If it isn't moving, push it 'til it moves, then exterminate it.

Having just re-read that, the Dalek look even more like fascists than ever. I think I'd like to drop this and chat about something more cheerful.

I wonder how that lovely Mr Saxon will do in the election?

1963 was during the Vietnam war too, and there are some facinating parrallels between the Daleks and that particular war.

This current monthly poll was started early, so that screen shots could potentially be used in Data Extract - but they weren't.

So, consequently, it started in May and runs until 30 June... The winner of the contest will be decided shortly after that.

There will be a new poll for July. I'm not telling any more at this point.

However, we're also open for suggestions as to poll topics - just send 'em to me by email or personal message (that's the PM button you'll see below).

Sorry for any confusion with the extra-long inaugural poll, though the finishing date was in the first post...

And thanks to everyone who has participated - there's been some interesting comments and an odd tangential discussion!

But it's not too late to join in, either.

I don't mind the winner stuff, I just like this idea in general - these poll threads can spark off really good debate, I think. Er, and no, since this just occurred to me, I'm not trying to blow my own trumpet, honestly.

And... that's the end of the June poll.

Thanks to everyone who contributed.

The winner will be announced in Data Extract and here at the forum.

Go and participate in the July poll now!
