In the event of DT resigning as the doctor. I think this would be the most pleasing solution to keep Doctor Who interesting and fresh:
Tennant regenerates out of Who!
Macca back for feature film
IIRC a Doctor Who film was on the books at BBC Worldwide before the new series was comissioned, however I think it would be an excellent way of giving the new series a break from yearly production and give a new perspective to the franchise. Furthermore, Paul McGann could return in a bid from the BBC to explain his regeneration into Eccleston.
Storylines? Well they've been discussed here before (I think) and for me, the best would be for the Time War to be played out on the big screen.
How many? A trilogy of DW features would be excellent in my opinion. It could even be done in Star Wars fashion, in using the first film to explain the origins of the War, how the Doc (and companions?) become involved and several of the first major battles. Number two could be the eye of the storm, a few major developments as the two forces build numbers, strategies for number three - the fall of Gallifrey, Dalek fleet etc.
I think it would work, and would be a nice way of giving the current incarnation (10-11) a break and give McGann some more time in the limelight to showcase his talent as the Doctor on screen. |
