For those who aren't awake, what Owen was doing with the "aftershave" was legally DATE RAPE.
He was drugging people, (male and female), and having sex with them without their consent. (There's no difference between using an "alien" drug or a local one, the crime is the same).
Using the concept of DATE RAPE to get a cheap laugh is extremely disappointing from the writer and the producers who let it through.
The character of Owen should be on a charge and in prison.
It's one of the reasons I am finding it difficult to enjoy the series as much as I had hope. Most of the characters are just unlikeable. |
From a females' perspective I was unfortable with that....and the second series had it too with the girl doing what she did....that would have been classed as rape....NO means NO after all and it's strange how no one else has comented and skipped around this particular point that phase5 has pointed out |

| Not sure if it is strange. Once someone has said something that is true, it doesn't need anyone else to comment to confirm the fact that it is true. |

Poor.
If there was one word that summed up this episode, it would have to be "gratuitous"...
Gratuitous violence and gore. Gratuitous sexual references and swearing. Gratuitous amoral behaviour. I mean I am not a prude, bu this TV series is set in the DW universe...
Apart from the psychotic bitch with her alien glove, we have another Torchwood member using an advanced date-rape drug on not one, but two unwilling victims... He obviously didn't care that they were already in a relationship - or could possibly have had children or the alike - oh no...
The members of Torchwood basically come across as a bunch of self-serving arseholes with little regard for anyone else - just what I'd expect from RTD. |
