What's with them and fluctuations in quality?

I can think of three letters... all consonants... forms an acronyn of a name.

This is bittersweet news. Could be good if, as others have said, the character is scripted and directed well, but really if anything like TRB occurs in the way of storylines or acting occurs...I might need to take some "Bliss"

Not happy (Jan) Cathrine! Looks like the BBC wants to kill the show off ...AGAIN!!

The Beeb wouldn't want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Doctor Who is one of their top shows, and makes them a fortune in merchandise.

If RTD and DT were to leave at the end of series 4, it would simply mean the Beeb would do what they've done many times before and simply get new people.

The one time Who was cancelled was at the height of the Video Nasties rubbish in the 80's, and the clod who did it has since said what a huge mistake it was.

Oo, that sounds interesting. I like the idea of changing the companions around, it's more like the classics. I'm not too sure about having Martha on Torchwood though, coz it might confuse the people who watch it but don't watch Doctor Who.

I'm sure it will all be explained to the non-who people Cool

Don't mean to nitpick you but I have had a good thought about this and by watching Torchwood these people are technically not non-Who people anymore. If they watch Torchwood but not the parent programme they are simply just non-Doctor people.

Sorry.

I was just joking as a lot of people I've spoken to haven't realised that Torchwood is related to Dr.Who....and then I enlighten them....they think it's like X-Files but more sex or heaps of sex Cool

By the way, getting back to the Tate casting, here's a wonderful blog entry for Lawrence Miles... who is worse, Bonnie Langford or Tate?

(And don't worry who Miles is - you don't need to know to read this)

seriously its not that bad, I hated Donna at the start of Runaway Bride but towards the end her character started to become more appealing.

People keep saying that, but more appealing than not appealing at all doesn't help much.

We'll have to see what the production team manages to do with her. I'm not convinced about the character or about Catherine Tate's acting.

My worst nightmare would be to have Donna spending some time each story looking for someone to marry... Confused

Seriously though I watched people at the start of the "regeneration" of WHO saying "Billie Piper OH WHY OH WHY" then I have seen the same thing with Martha "NO NO NO BRING BACK PIPER" and then Martha leaves and its "BRING BACK MARTHA" ... do you see a trend here? I am sure I am not the only one that sighed when Ecclestone left and thought "damn now we have to deal with a new Doctor AGAIN!" especially since the rebirth was so new. I was horrified by Tennant at the start, just the thought of him playing the Doctor repulsed me, after the Xmas special all my fears wandered off into oblivion.

Mr 3 letter acronym knows how to cast and he does not disapoint, the new series will be fine and everyone will keep watching and hanging for the next episode like we all do every week.

Yeess... but the difference is that, you know, we've seen Tate do her stuff. I know you said that she became "more appealing" by the end - disagree myself - but then again, after thinking Tennant would be great, I spend almost an entire season wondering why he was so crud until Series Three came around. You're right about pre-emptively saying someone will be crap, unless we've seen them be crap, and we know that, for continuity of character, she'll have to have an utterly annoying moment in every story (Rose was mentioned in nearly every Series Three story... do you see what I mean? It's endless).
