| It has been five days since Girl In The Fireplace was shown on the ABC and coincidentally I was looking in the uni library, books on the French Revolution when I spotted some books on Madame de Pompadour, books that I wasn't even looking for. Knew there was a good reason why I decided to do research on the French Revolution (even though it took place after Reinette's time), apart from the 1964 serial The Reign of Terror. |

Maybe there was an-'Other' reason for it
IIRC, I heard Fry's story was cancelled altogether...may be wrong though |
has RTD said anything about Lungbarrow being canon? |
Dont think so, but we can assume (or not) |

To me the whole banana thing made sense because of the fact that this is supposed to be the same man (The Doctor) so of cause he will say things that he has said before, like "Fantastic" and "Bananas are good" We all tend to repeat ourselves. I like it when there are tie ins with the Ninth Doctor to remind us that it is still the same person. |
Weirdly enough, I didn't actually mean that as a criticism, it just came out that way. In fact I really liked the banana and dancing returns. I just wrote it wrongly, lol.
As for Lungbarrow, I'm not sure if the books' stories are canon for the TV series... for example, Gallifrey being destroyed twice seems a bit weird. |

They are timelords. It's possible that it was destroyed and then they went to a previous time in which it was destroyed again. Or alternate timelines.
(I haven't read them) |

| Gallifrey lore should be given a complete re-boot, just like they did with the Cybermen. |

Charlie, good point. I have often pondered that one and since the essence of everything is part of the tardis matrix, it is possible.

| I just made a discovery. In this episode, Reinette tells the Doctor "I have known you since I was seven years old". But she only received the nickname "Reinette" at the age of nine, after a fortune teller told her that she would become the king's mistress ("Reinette" means "little queen"). What's even funnier is that I found this out in the Doctor Who book Alien & Enemies! |

| My favourite episode of New Who so far!!! Not sure if I'm just in love with Madame de Pompadour or what, but the dialogue in this was exquisite. Beautiful! Gave me chills. |
