Found out at the end of last night's Einstein Factor from host Peter Berner that Get Smart will be a special subject (again) in next week's show on Sunday September 2 6:30pm.

The contestant was Kelly Hale but unfortunately she lost. Sad

The teaser movie trailer and it looks quite good:

This teaser trailer has begun playing at least here in Australia. I found out because I went to see with the family Rush Hour 3. The Get Smart movie trailer was shown before that movie started. Upon the beginning of the trailer which had Max in the phonebooth my mother could tell that it was a Get Smart movie!

omg its the 40 year old virgin guy. I am expecting a great dissappointment just becaus eof that, like the Da Vinci code. But that trailer was funny. The cheif looks wrong. I don't remember agent 23 but the rock is probably wrong too. I hope agent 47 makes an appearance with his classic 'I'm depressed' joke. I also hope that the trailer wasn't much better than the movie, as trailers usually are.

A Get Smart parody was used for an ad on a short film festival called Flickerfest which I saw on SBS a couple of nights ago and it had someone playing Max and 99. This Max saying "Would you believe" on the amount of movies one can watch in a certain amount of time before it ended with him going down a phone booth (like in the TV series).

Quite a good parody.

Wasn't 100% certain at the time but I have found out that playing Max was indeed Alex Dimitriades. Wow what a choice for Max for the ad.

There was a Get Smart reference in The West Wing.

In the penultimate episode of season 3 We Killed Yamamoto, CJ referred to the Secret Service agent assigned to protect her as Agent 99!

The Monk episode Mr Monk Gets Jury Duty had the following dialogue (from TV.com):
Disher: Sir, could you repeat that, please?
Stottlemeyer: Yeah. What part?
Disher: Everything after "Pay attention. I'm only going to say this once."

This is obviously intended to be an allusion to Get Smart as Max usually does not get any of the instructions or plan that he is being told about and had to ask to be told again in the part after the beginning of instruction/plan.

In The Einstein Factor on the weekend Peter Berner asked a question about a name of a symphony in which contestant Sam incorrectly answered Hubert's.

I am guessing that she must be thinking of the Hubert's Unfinished Symphony episode on Get Smart.

Ive recently got my dad into monk and he watched get smart when he was my age and he pointed out to me that dicher and captain are like smart and cheif since then weve been watching and laughing in monk and almost everything those two says seems to be identical to what max would've done.

In his review David Stratton said that the movie was out of its time but says the actors were very good than the mundane material that was presented from the movie. In fact he made a pun in saying the actors were smarter anything else in the movie. He gave it three stars while Margaret Pomerantz gave it 3 and a half stars.

Also Gerry Maddox from the Sydney Morning Herald said that the film "is entertaining but formulaic. As Max would say, "Missed it by that much."

The Sydney Sunday Telegraph presented a fun article for would-be female spies who wanted to be like 99 with ended by saying "Go see Get Smart. You'll learn many helpful spy tips!"

Saw the new movie last week.

There were moments I am not satisfied with but overall it is an enjoyable film.

Delighted on seeing the poster of Mr Big (Get Smart's very first villain back in 1965) on the fridge.
Was not satisfied with the way the Would You Believe catchphrase was being used here. Instead of "I find that pretty hard to believe", Siegfried just said "I don't believe you". Doesn't have the same ring to it. However I did like the last part about Chuck Norris.
Quite like Bernie Kopell's cameo in the film.
I was not satisfied with Ken Davitian being Shtarker. He was no where near as funny when King Moody played the character.
Did not surprise me on who the traitor in CONTROL turned out to be.
In an interesting bit of casting, playing the Vice President was Geoff Pierson. He had earlier played the President in 24. Since the movie included a plot to kill the President it is an irony for Geoff Pierson to be in. After all if such a plot were to succeed Geoff Pierson would find himself President again. (To add to all this I saw Pierson in the Medium season 4 finale Drowned World a day before I saw him in Get Smart.)
Finally, pleased to see the dedication to Don Adams and Ed Platt at the end of the end credits.

Ben McEachen in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph gave the movie three and a half stars. He described it as "an amiable and entertaining reboot which won't destroy billions of fond memories dedicated to Don Adams' iconic Agent 86."

He also praised Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway.

There is also an interview with Anne Hathaway in the accompanying Sunday Magazine in an article called Chaos Controlled (the title should really be KAOS Controlled). It says that Mel Brooks and Barbara Feldon approved of her casting:
Anne Hathaway - "Once I heard Mel Brooks and Barbara Feldon approved of my casting, I said, 'OK, now I'm comfortable going off and creating."

Gotta say, except for getting EVERY character wrong, that was pretty good. A complete delight to see Hymie at the end (that was always my fav ep)
Some of the jokes in there were the running get smart jokes all of which were buggered up. Other jokes were classic get smart jokes which were well pulled off at first but then buggered up (eg when max was eating noisy wrapper and then went into a thing about obesity)

The only thing that was doen well was the closing door gag.

I'm gonna skip the Get Smart movie. Don't get my wrong, I love the TV series, but the movie just looks utter rubbish. Everything I've seen of it has made my skin crawl. I can't stand Carell either. Even Ann Hathaway, who makes me go ga-ga, isn't gonna save this one for me. Might hire it on DVD on a cheap night...

Come to think of it, Max and 99 were only in character for the door gag.

Speaking of the door gag, 7 in its one of its latest promos has the 7 TV guy (literally) going through that gag.
