Apologies for the delay on this one, but I've been out of town a bit.
OK, well it's always nice when someone reads your comments and acts upon them.* The second part of this story takes the opportunity to tell us why the removal of Sarah from recent history didn't result in all the alien plans she's foiled recently succeeding - they too were removed from history!
Unsurprisingly, after her absence from most of the previous episode, Sarah makes a lot more appearances in this episode and eventually resolves the big threat - although Maria continues her central role from the previous episode for most of this.
It's not unusual in a two-parter for the pay-off of the plot-line to be not as good as you'd expect, but Hoorah for this story as part 2 is better than I expected. It complicates the somewhat simplistic storyline of the previous episode and puts a couple of characters - notably the semi-villainous Andrea - through an emotional wringer.
And wonder never ceasing, my absolute dread of Maria's mum, Chrissie, wasn't lived up to as she was pretty tolerable for once. Maybe the quality of the rest of this story mad em more forgiving?
In some respects this was a brave story for a new series aimed at a younger audience - it removed the title character from the screen for a substantial length of time, pretty much removed one of the substantive leads (Luke) for the whole story, and made another (Clyde) a supporting character. And it resisted the temptation to make one of the villains wholly villainous, as Andrea ended up with some redeeming features.
And there was even a substantial reason why Sarah was the target of this activity.
Yes, I was impressed!
* As you may have suspected, I do live in a world of my own where my word is law. What about it?
