After two almost Luke-free episodes, Sarah's 'adopted' son takes centre-stage in this story.

Back when he was introduced, Luke was revealed to be an artificially grown boy - but at the start of this episode, two distraught parents are looking for their lost son, who looks just like Luke. Sarah has Mr Smith check Luke and the photo, and they are declared an exact match. And then Chrissie, Maria's mum, calls the police to report the missing boy found...

This episode starts by putting the main cast through the trauma that one of them isn't who any of them - including Luke! - thought he was. This is on top of Maria's dad, Alan, having just discovered that his daughter has been helping defeat alien menaces. The stage is set for everything to change.

And then the surprise villains appear. They are a surprise, so I shan't say anymore, but suffice it to say that after the villainous revelations of this episode, things won't be the same.

I think that this is, arguably, the best first half of a story in this series so far. I hope part 2 delivers!

I too hope part 2 delivers and I hope it is a fiiting end to the first eason of this excellent show. I certainly hope there will be more Sarah Jane Adventures. Don't know how they will continue it though, now that Alan knows about their shenanigans. I do hope that in the end, Sarah gets to prove that Luke is her son without a doubt and that Chrissy gets egg on her face. I hope K-9 comes back and "deals" with Mr Smith. Only on the third viewing it struck me that the Chief Inspector of Police might have a further part and subltely look like a romantic interest for Sarah. NOt bad looking for an old bloke. Also I think Elisabeth looks a bit worse for wear in this episode. The gruelling schedule taking its toll no doubt. I hope they make more SJA shows. It's a really great series and my family is addicted to it. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Fantastic. There were a couple of genuine surprises in Mr Smith and the villians which was great. I like the Alan character and I hope he gets more involved in future episodes, sort of like a Harry Sullivan.
What a great show Smile

One thing I don't understand is why get Luke out of the way? Why couldn't Mr Smith just send Sarah off to steal the device without putting Luke out of the picture? He is only going to get him back again, to use it, by the look of next week's trailers. Mr Smith could have used other means to trick SJ into letting Luke use the thing. Why bother with the Slytheen? I can see a double cross here and it looks to me that they are going to cop it along with the rest of the world. Why all of a sudden, after helping SJ all this time, does Mr Smith want to destroy the world? He should have just let that meteor crash last week. And as for Clyde.......why doesn't he just pull the plug from the inside? I suppose we'll find out next week. [yes yes it's for kids but even the kids are asking]

I felt sad when Luke was taken away by his so-called real parents only for them to turn out to be the Slitheen. I really did not expect to see them here and follows up on Revenge of the Slitheen the season opener. What a way to bookend the season.

The biggest surprise definitely came at the end with Mr Smith turning out to be evil. I never would have guess that.

It looks like it is shaping up to be quite an end to the first season with this story's concluding episode.

I couldn't believe the number of twists in this episode! Apart from thinking that Luke might not be Luke, there was the fact that he was Luke and his so-called parents were lying, that the Slitheen made a return, that Mr Smith was evil... so exciting! Great fun.
