Just saw the Children In Need special ... and loved it. The interaction between 10 and 5 was great, especially 10's comments on 5's outfit. I haven't actually seen or even read any 5th Doctor stories, but that didn't seem to matter. I knew the facts, anyway.

| I really enjoyed this - it was great to see PD playing the Doctor once more, and I thought he carried it off very well. How #5 knows about LINDA is beyond me, but these things happen. I was hoping at the beginning, when the TARDIS interior started to blur that we might get to see the old TARDIS interior, but no such luck. It took #5 a little while to notice the interior differences, and then he accused #10 of changing the desktop setting! I wonder how difficult it is to change that TARDIS interior anyway? |

but there is no guarantee on how long it is going to be there.
Running at only 8 minutes there is not much to say except that it was quite a fun little scene.
Currently I am watching Castrovalva on DVD and therefore watching Time Crash represents a full circle, that is if* there are no more opportunities for the Fifth Doctor to return on telly Who. Another thing is that this was directed by Graeme Harper who of course directed Davison's formal swansong Caves of Androzani.

| Time Crash was a lot of fun, it was great to see Peter Davison back as the Doctor. The two Doctors played well off each other. Loved the comment about 10 being a Fan. Will the 5th Doctor turn up again in Series 4? |

And yes, I've promoted this to a poll and everything!
This was nice. Of course, one of the questions it immediately raises is to what extent the 10th Doctor's comments on the 5th Doctor were Tennant's views or Maffat's views? It'd be nice to think of the writer and the actor sitting down together and discussing their memories of the the Davison era, with their conversation leading to a large part of the scene's content. |

| This was soooooo cooooool!!!!!! I've heard of these children in need specials but have never seen one. Peter Davidson was as excellent as ever and that nice bit at the end when Dr10 said "You were MY doctor" brought a little nostalgic tear to my eye. I suppose, giving Tennant's age, PD was HIS doctor. I liked the way they explained the older looking Dr5 as well. I wonder could they get away with doing that with Dr4? haha. I know Jon Pertwee used to do the Children in need shows along with other companions but I don't think they ever acknowledged the age thing. NOt that JP ever looked any different. Anyway, I'm gong in search of more of these specials, as we never get stuff like this in Australia. Over the past 30 yrs that I've watched DW, I've never seen anything but the shows. No interviews, no specials, no nothing. Except the time Tom Baker was on the midday show in 1976 or whenever it was. It's really great to have the net now so we don't miss out on the all the good stuff. |

I too enjoyed the way it was explained that the 5th Doctor was looking older. I was worried about this, but once again the team has overcome my fears completely. What a wonderful little ep!!!
Not can they pull off an even harder task, and make Catherine Tate a likeable companion. I'm willing to bet they can. |

That was the best part ...I'd prefer to see Tom Baker come back but he's getting too old for it?

I think it's more Moffat than Tennant, possibly - because I've got an Invision Season 20 thing where Moffat gives this foreword about how brilliant the Fifth Doctor is, how he's the worthiest of them all, etc., etc.
Interesting, though, that they acknowledged the similarities between Tennant's Doctor and Davison's... including the squeaky voice thing, which was one I hadn't noticed!
In all, an amusing little cutaway, and nothing more. So, great for what it is. |

I only saw it after seeing all the glowing reports on Outpost Gallifrey, but I don't think it deserved that high a rating.
It was ok for a 7 minute skit in a charity event, but that's about it. Davison looked old and his portrayal wasn't particularly charismatic.
Roll on Christmas and the 2008 season. |

Marvelous. Peter scrubbed up really well. Cranky when it was needed (he got that from me BTW) and resolute when suitable.
DT got a chance to be a fan-boy and loved it.
Plausible explanation for the slightly saggy jowls, good dialogue and all in 7 minutes. And at least now we know why that big boat knocks on the front door of the TARDIS. |
