Torchwood, the first proper spin-off from Doctor Who has garnered fans and critics - not the least being channel TEN who intially promoted the series to the hilt, then relegated it to an early morning timeslot that many people couldn't even work out which day it was on!

With 13 episodes making up 12 stories, there's quite a bit to watch and to have an opinion about.

So which did you really like?

Cyberwoman was the most Whoish of all the episodes. Apart from the somewhat risible costume with High-heeled Cyber Boots that is. Cool Laughing

As far as first impressions went, Everything Changes was the best for me. It convinced me that Torchwood was a good show.

An honourable mention to Captain Jack Harkness/End of Days, coz John Barrowman's acting was great in it. Loved the Jack/Jack relationship.

I only watched three or four eps before giving up on the show so I'm going to evilly skew the results with my uneducated voting. Cool

Forty Seven per cent of the population voted uneducatedly in the Federal election, so I can't see why you shouldn't be allowed to do so here. Razz Twisted Evil

Why are 'Captain Jack Harkness' and 'End of Days' a two-parter? I just thought bits bled over, not that it was a genuine two-parter (indeed, 'End of Days' sort of brings 'CJH' down a bit).

My favourite of Torchwood's first series was 'Ghost Machine', for a number of reasons. The first was that, after the first episodes that showed promise but made me understand why people disliked the show, 'Ghost Machine' was when I sat up and went, "Hang on, you mean this can be a good show?" Second, I'm a sucker of character drama, and there were huge bunches of it here - Gwen learns to shoot (and later stabs someone - not so fun now, is it, Gwen?); Owen goes slightly nuts... Actually, Owen was easily what made this story so good.

A theme of this story was, of course, the past. I mean, ghosts galore, emotion, all that stuff. But basically, it's moments coming back to haunt you. Mr Creepy "Liiiiiizzie" Rapist can't get past what he did. Ironically, Owen did basically the same thing but on a casual level, and his rage at Eddie is driven by guilt as well. Then you've got, as I mentioned, Gwen having fun with firing a gun then accidentally stabbing someone at the end.

I should point out that I like Owen, and that's because he's unlikeable. For me, characters in TV don't have to be likeable to be worth watching; I can understand though why some wouldn't like that (why watch a bunch of twats?), which is why they mightn't like Torchwood.

By the way, I was incredibly tempted to vote 'Random Shoes', but considering my championing of 'Love & Monsters' - even though 'RS' is better - that may have seemed one-sided. And the others were either good but not as good as 'GM', played too much on the one emotional level - like 'CJH', which was all about love but barely anything else, making it sweet but meaningless as television for me - or, like 'Cyberwoman', a bit too much like DW for me to really like it.

And, I've probably just irritated a whole bunch of people by saying all that. Never mind! I apologise in advance. (Though I'd like it if people could, you know, give reasons as to why something's bad, rather than just saying it's bad and moving on. That's what forums are all about - debate!)

I voted for Cyberwoman. On a pure fantasy level (Countrycide was just as scary but I could believe this could happen in real life) this ep was the scariest IMO. I jumped in my chair a couple of times throughout the ep. Showed how scary cybermen could actually be in an adult context.

I loved Out of Time because it threw very different people into a new situation, a new time, and made them cope (or try to). It showed what could be done with the concept of the show.

I admit I am a sucker for aviator stories, but this was very well done!

The thing I didn't like about Out of Time was that when the woman flew off at the end, there was pretty much no chance of her going back to her own time. On the plus side, it did give Owen a taste of his own medicine.

Small worlds, though I loved Ghost Machine and Out of Time as well. REALLY can't stand the Chibnall eps (can he actually write anything good at all?)
