| Well, this holidays I read all four timewyrms and Lungbarrow. I must say that they were great! Especially Revelation and Lungbarrow. I knew that Lung was the last NA but I was still very surprised to find it leading into the movie. Marc Platt has a real talent for weaving stories and a strong understanding of Who and is deserving of adding WHo lore in such a significant way as he does. And after having just finished reading every one of the first doctor's books I was plesantly surprised something new of my favourite doctor. Not only that but all the things I didn't like about the lore were revealed to be something else that I did like. All in all a very good 1000 or so pages. |

'Lungbarrow' is VERY careful in its canonicity, about saying what's right and what's wrong within that, and makes sure it doesn't tread on any other range's toes... and then says "Bugger you, BBC Books, we're going to lead straight into the movie". I find that hilarious. Mind you, it's not like the 7th Doctor PDAs are worth a hell of a lot (sweeping statement, I know, but nearly always true).
Regarding the movie - since there are Big Finishes ('Master', because it references the Adjuticators) that imply it, you can fit stuff in between 'Lungbarrow' and the movie. It's just that 'Lungbarrow' is where he actively knows he's about to die soon, and perhaps he's doing one last cleaning of the universe ('Master', and 'Return of the Daleks' and 'Excelis Decays' for that matter, seem to support that) before he moves on. |
