The film is aiming for a Christmas 2008 release:

Incidentally last night at a meeting with my sci fi club someone suggested that Gary Sinise played McCoy in the upcoming film saying he looks the character. Not a bad casting suggestion. (Star Trek XI just happened to came up in conversation just after a discussion about Doctor Who, Torchwood & The Sarah Jane Adventures.) |

Found out from Wikipedia that the film has been simply titled as Star Trek. Just those two words nothing else comes after them.
Wikipedia:
"An eleventh film, simply titled Star Trek, has been announced for release on Christmas Day, 2008"
It looks like in future people would have to refer to the film as Star Trek (2008) to avoid confusion with the original series or Star Trek generically. |

John Cho is Sulu and Simon Pegg is Scotty:
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/startreknews.php?id=38287
Having appeared in Doctor Who in The Long Game as well as being the narrator for the first season of Doctor Who Confidential, Pegg has become the latest actor to appear in both Doctor Who and Star Trek.
Also this would not be the first time that Pegg has appeared in a film made by JJ Abrams as he had previously appeared in Mission Impossible 3. |

| Hours ago in The Sideshow on the ABC which I caught a little bit of, Paul McDermott mentions Eric Bana's casting in the next Star Trek film and jokingly says that the name of the film would be Romulan, My Father as in being an amusing take on Bana's movie Romulus My Father. |

Just found out that the film's release has been delayed from Christmas this year to May 8 2009.
The reason for the delay was because Paramount wanted to avoid competition with X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Angels & Demons both of which were due for release in December, the new Star Trek film's former month. |
