Dear lord! I hope that's a silly made-up title.

I mean, there's nothing terribly nautical about either story and K9's few encounters with water never ended well.

Plus there are any number of people who'd like to see K9 skewered on a harpoon!

DoctorWhoNews.com has reported that The Trial of a Time Lord will be released later in the year.

I would have thought that the story being the last of the Colin Baker era would be the last story of that era to be released. Instead it is getting a release ahead of Twin Dilemma & Attack of the Cybermen.

Two things.
Greg, K-9 Ahoy! is my silly made-up name. At the moment it is listed as K-9 Box set. Very prosaic but I am sure that someone will come up with an even more twee suggestion.
Second, the news about Trial of a Time Lord would suggest that this box set will be the major Christmas release alongside Season Four of The Revival (similar to The Key to Time last year).
This now means that we now have two slots open: October and November of this year. Any news would be greatly welcomed.

Thank goodness (and common sense) that the nautical name isn't the real one!

Fantastic news!!

Logopolis, Caves of Androzani and Survival were all released before the 'first' story of those incarnations of the Doctor was. Perhaps the Beeb are tapping into the 'boxed set' craze and going for the 'Trial' release first for that reason?

Hopefully they'll get to the E-Space and Guardian Trilogy's at some stage soon. Personally I love those!

Yeah, they'd be brilliant - and unlike, say, the Time-Flight/Arc of Infinity boxset... the stories in both the E-Space and Guardian trilogies would be awesome (mostly)!

The new release of The Five Doctors is making a story that has been out of print for some year available again - and many who are new fans or have returned to the fold with the new series may have missed this.

The main difference to most people will be the addition of special features, including a commentary track with Elisabeth Sladen, Mark Strickson, Nicholas Courtney and Carole Ann Ford. It also feature a commentary track with Terrance Dicks and Peter Davison, that was only previously available on the US version.

There's a 50 minute documentary on the 20th anniversary celebrations (of which this story was part) which is apparently packed with interviews and is narrated by Colin Baker (who made his first appearance in the 20th anniversary year as Commander Maxil).

There's another 25 minute documentary on how this story fits in with previous and future stories, which is narrated by Paul McGann.

There's other special freatures of the usual sort - unedited studio footage of the Doctors together; segments from contemporary shows, outtakes, etc.

And there is supposed to be the 'biggest easter egg ever'.

If you've got the story on DVD already, then you may not want this if the special features are of little or no interest to you.

Doesn't this new version of 5 Docs go a bit longer that the tv version? About 10 mins longer?

I thought the original dvd release was just the tv version with a few extra special effects added.

The 5 Doctors will feature 2 other Doctors in the special features as behind the scenes features are presented by Colin Baker and Paul McGann!

What would be the point in that? ...they weren't in the original show, you'd think Peter Davidson would be doing some commentry as he is last remaining actor alive who actually played the role!

I don't know who this Peter Davidson person is.

It does have a commentary track with Peter Davison (and Terrance Dicks).

For those who haven't had it confirmed, the special easter egg is a third commentary track, with David Tennant, Phil Collinson and Helen Raynor.

So, this DVD features contributions by 8 (or 9, if you count Richard Hurndall separately) actors who have played the Doctor on TV (recognising that both William Hartnell and Tom Baker's contributions weren't made for this story or DVD).

Greg, Peter Davidson played the 5th Doctor after Tom Baker role. He was in the Five Doctors as well, from memory he wore a cream jacket with striped pants throughout his series?

Correct, Tom's cameo was taken from an older show within his series.

Davros, it's Davison, not daviDson, Greg is pointing out you should drop the D in the middle.
