People would probably know by now that Roy Scheider has passed away. He is well known for playing police chief Brody in Jaws.

Other notable roles included Joe Gideon in All That Jazz a thinly disguised autobiography of Bob Fosse.

He also has a following with sci fi fans as the original lead actor of Seaquest as Captain Nathan Bridger.

He was 75.

Far more importantly, he played Dr Benway in The Naked Lunch, which is hidden away as one of my favourite movies in a much earlier discussion...
