Dr No to be adapted on Radio by BBC Radio 4 next year:
http://commanderbond.net/article/4700
"As one of the many events celebrating the centenary of 007's creator, this Dr. No dramatisation will star Die Another Day villain Toby Stephens as James Bond, David Suchet as Dr. No, Janie Dee as Miss Moneypenny, Jordanna Tin as Miss Taro and many more actors.
According to the report below, Eon Productions, the owner of the James Bond rights, gave permission to do this one-off, once-and-once-only dramatisation to mark the Fleming centenary provided they were given casting approval of the role of Bond—luckily, Stephens was the number one choice for all involved" |

John Standing as ‘M’, Samuel West as Pleydel-Smith, Clarke Peters as Quarrel, Lisa Dillon as Honey Rider, Martin Jarvis as the Voice of Ian Fleming.
Jarvis is the director and his wife Rosalind Ayres is producer.
There are cameos from Simon Williams, Peter Capaldi, Nicky Henson, Kobna Holdbrook Smith, Kosha Engler, Jon David Yu, Jordanna Tin, Inika Leigh Wright and a special appearance by Ian Fleming’s niece Lucy Fleming as the Jamaican Institute Librarian.
I am already familiar with Ms Fleming as I have seen her recently in her regular role in the 1970s BBC series Survivors.
Although not stated in the link I have been told that Dr No will be broadcast on May 24. |

The radio adaptation of Dr No is available to listen on the BBC Radio 4 site:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/ian_fleming.shtml
It is available until the next weekend.
Toby Stephens is very good as James Bond, very delighted on how Honey Ryder first turns up, very nice to hear Lucy Fleming, Ian's niece in this and David Suchet sounded unrecognisable as Dr No but brilliant at it.
Very good adaptation. |
