| I never knew this until now but it turns out that the actor Harry Melling who plays Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films is actually Patrick Troughtons grandson. That's something new to know. |

Yeah, that floored me when I found out. It meant that when I went to see Order of the Phoenix, others around me were saying, "Oh look, Michael Gambon!" and "Oh look, Alan Rickman!" while I said, "Look, Pat Troughton's grandson! Isn't that AMAZING?!"
For some reason, no-one else found that amazing. |

And Alice Troughton, who has directed episodes of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures is...
... no relation to Patrick Troughton at all.
I bet she gets tired of answering the question, 'Are you related to...'
It seems all the theatrical aspects of Pat's heritage have gone to his male descendants - sons David Troughton and Michael Troughton, and grandsons Sam Troughton and Harry Melling. |
