I gave it a 'Turkey' rating I'm afraid.
Kinda probalby would have been a decent novel, but on television it is woeful.
I don't know why fans rate it so highly.
Very overrated story IMO. |

Why rate it highly? Because it went into territory that Doctor Who doesn't often explore - the dark places of the inside in more ways than one. It is a character driven, psychological story in which the weakest part if probably the monster of the piece. It was a bit Sapphire and Steelish, but remained Doctor Who. Best story of this season, and very derserving of a DVD release (possibly with CGI effects to deal with the not too great snake).
And hell - it even showed us that Janet Fielding had better acting skills that we might otherwise have suspected! |

| I liked Snakedance better so I was very surprised that Kinda turned out to be more popular. Didn't like Kinda that much the first time round. Let's see if my opinion changes with the latest screenings. |

I wonder if the ABC will play the episodes in order this time, unlike the 1, 3, 2, 4 rendition we got when it was on at 4:30am. They even apologised for playing them out of order at the end of Ep 2, but then mispronounced the story as "kein-der"!
I wish they'd apologised for Basil Brush at 4:25am, those "BOOM-BOOM!!"s were enough to cause an aneurism at that time of day. |

Not everyone will apreciate this comment, but my favourite thing about this story is seeing DCI Meadows get away from Sunhill for a bit of interplanetary policing!
Only people who have watched The Bill in the past 10 years (I think) will get this. |

Part 1 looks pretty good and I definitely like Nerys Hughes (Todd). I think she's pretty.
I completely forgotten about Doctor's aborted "An apple a day" line. It was funny. |

I generally find Kinda to be underrated myself. I agree with Greg about exploring the darker places of the inside, and Janet Fielding's acting. Once again a companion is left with nothing to do, although at least there was no attempt to disguise the fact this time, with Nyssa being left in the TARDIS and absent for the whole time.
Don't agree that it is the best of the season, but it's close.

I remember that well, except it was 3 and 4 they swapped. It's the only time I have ever rang up and complained. They must've taken so many calls as well since I rang up at 3pm after I finished work and as soon as I've mentioned the words "Doctor Who" I've been interrupted with a "hold on I'll put you through". This happened 3 times, before someone in a VERY tired voice told me they'd be playing episode 3 tomorrow morning. Made it a bitch to watch on the video though, having to fast forward thru episode 4 to watch episode 3, and then rewind back thru eps 3 and 4 to watch the end.

You're kidding aren't you? I used to get up 10 minutes earlier specifically to watch Basil Brush! |

| Janet Fielding is definitely better as the Mara than being Tegan. |

| Yes, it's good to see Janet Fielding get a bit more acting to do, or as one of my friends put it, "wandering drunk around the jungle". |

The characterisations were all excellent, especially Nyssa's character, and barring Adric. The older I get, the more I can't stand this irritating actor, who was I am sure was inspiration for the term 'fanwakner'. He's gotta be the ultimate.
Gary Russell gets accused of this but at least he's got talent.
And who remembers the old hag as one of the Number 2's in The Prisoner? |

| I voted very good for this one. I like Doctor Who the best when there is a few strange characters around. |

No it's not that at all. It just that her playing the Mara is quite impressive from what she is given for Tegan.
On a related note I read in DWM 351 in the article of the making of the first episode of Death Comes to Time, the radio pilot and ultimately the webcast featuring the Seventh Doctor, Ace and Antimony, it mentioned briefly that prior to that in 1997 BBC Light Entertainment Producer Jon Rolph was interested in continuing the Doctor Who radio serials with a story for Radio 4. This project was discussed with Kinda script editor Eric Saward and Tom had also expressed an interest in being involved. If the story went ahead Saward was planning to develop a Cybermen story for the Fourth Doctor most probably with Sarah. Ultimately Radio 4 was not interested in commissioning scripts. |

Yesterday I remember seeing Mary Morris (Panna) as one of the number 2s in The Prisoner in the episode Dance of the Dead. In fact her appearance on Kinda is listed in her filmography on The Prisoner DVD.
The 24 episode that was on 7 last night took place between 6pm and 7pm. That was when Kinda Part 3 was on last night. |
