Yeah, I definitely remember hearing that. Haha, and maybe when that day comes that squeeing fans* have been praying for and Daniel Radcliffe is cast as the Doctor, that may just interest JK even more.

Well... perhaps not.

Mind you, when watching GoF, I do remember thinking Ron's outfit for the Yule Ball was very Doctor-ish, in the sense that it was bizarre and individual. I can't believe the others looked down on him; they were all wearing boring suits (like the 10th Doctor occasionally does, ironically!)! Ron, nervous though he was, was clearly the most brilliantly dressed individual there. I applaud him.

On Rove the other night, Rove was talking about how with shows like So You Think You Can Dance all the range, his dance moves aren't that cool anymore. He then proceeded to do some robot moves, whilst exclaiming: "Uncoordinate! Uncoordinate!"

Recently saw on the Catweazle DVD the documentary Brothers In Magic in which Geoffrey Bayldon mentioned Doctor Who.

Before William Hartnell, Bayldon became the first person to ask to play the Doctor but turned it down. In Brothers In Magic he said that he would not have been Catweazle if he had accepted the offer of playing the Doctor.

Bayldon eventually appeared in Doctor Who in Creature from the Pit and finally played the Doctor as an alternative version of the First Doctor in the Doctor Who Unbound audios from Big Finish.

There was a Doctor Who reference in the Robin Hood season 1 DVD release. Executive Producer Foz Allan in the special feature Designing the Hood said that for CGI to work on Robin Hood the audience must not notice it as it is not science fiction, it's not Doctor Who.

I don't suppose anyone saw It's Academic today (Friday 9/5)? Because I switched over to it, and I only heard the last part of a question. Option A had already been said, but then..

"Or B - the Master".

The answer was B. But I don't know what the question was!

it could have been about cricket cuz there was a guy they called "The Master" but I suppose it could have been about DW.....how annoying is that? My daughter's school was on that show just before the holidays and they did really well aparently Smile

A couple of non-references here, but anyway...

At school in Extension History we're learning about JFK, and there are many biographies on the subject. Whilst copying the names of the authors down my eyes widened for a moment, only to discover that the man's name wasn't what I thought it was.

His name was Robert Dallek.

Tonight I asked my dad if he wanted to watch the movie I taped for him the other night. He said "No, I'm going to watch Enemy Within."

He meant The State Within.

On the TV Week website, there are regular amusing blogs on reality TV posted. Blogger Mary said this about an act on Australia's Got Talent:

"Regular readers will know my feelings on mimes — they need to be locked up along with all the clowns. So when it looks like the next guy's a mime, my heart sinks. However, his act turns out to be an amusing one involving a slinky that looks alarmingly like something off the wall of a fake spaceship on one of the old Dr Who sets."

I can't believe no one's posted this yet! On Good News Week last night, there was a "Strange But True" story which involved a priest's collar, a baseball cap and the Doctor Who theme (the story was actually reported on Rove months ago). And I felt the need to record what was said that night:

(After Chris Taylor has just sung the theme tune) -

Eddie Ifft: That is actually a song? It sounded like whales mating..."
Mikey (to Chris): Right now nerds across Australia are in love with you.
Paul (to Eddie): It's more than a song - it's an entire universe...

(Later, when they go back to the story) -

Chris: Andrew Hansen from the Chaser would be so jealous that I got to do that then. He has sex to the Doctor Who theme...
Mikey (about the story): It is about Doctor Who of course, the show loved by geeks around the world...
(He mentions that the Catholic Church is using Doctor Who to appeal to the youth, interpreting the gospel as Doctor Who)
Mikey: This is classic of the Church by using a show that peaked 25 years ago.
Chris: I guess Christians and Doctor Who fans have a lot in common - they don't have sex.
Mikey: If you're some sort of Christian Doctor Who fan you're never going to have sex - which is a good thing because we don't want them to breed...
Cal Wilson: So they're drawing parallels I suppose with Doctor Who, you know, the rebirth of Christ with Doctor Who being reborn, Judas as a Dalek, like that.
Claire: (something about people pretending to be Davros, I couldn't quite understand her)...
Chris: (mentions now with the aliens and the sci fi, Tom Cruise will have to switch religions)

Paul: In the UK, church leaders are encouraging clergy to study Doctor Who to learn about its religious parallels. And it's true. The Doctor is similar to the Saviour, the TARDIS is similar to the church, and K-9 is similar to the robot dog Jesus had.
The Church of England says religious symbolism in Doctor Who could be used to explain difficult ideas to young people - because even a two-hearted time travelling alien who lives in a dimension-warping phone box, makes more sense than the Bible.

It's interesting to note that I, a while back, drew some parallels of my own. You may remember my thread comparing the TARDIS translating alien languages to the Holy Spirit making Peter's message be understood to everyone.

On Parallax this morning, Ben had gone to the costume shop to get a 1950s outfit for the dance he was holding. The owner's son went to check, then came back with a ridiculous multi-coloured coat, which Ben said looked like a clown's outfit. All that time I couldn't help but think of the Sixth Doctor.

I think I've got a sixth sense for knowing when a show's going to make a Doctor Who reference. On Rove last night, Rove was talking about how with the release of the new Sex and the City movie, people are identifying themselves with the characters, and that they don't really do that with other TV shows. As soon as he said "other TV shows" I thought of the Doctor Who Annual 2007 and the "Which character are you most like?" quiz. Well, Rove went on to make comparisons with other shows, and then:

"I'm like a Dalek because I want to exterminate all humans, and I don't like taking the stairs."

It's amazing how many plugs Doctor Who gets from Channel Ten!

I've been recently playing an x-box game called "Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo" one of the most ANNOYING!!!! enemies to fight is a robotic penguin.

Now this may not seem like a doc who reference but as soon as that little black and white guy said "exterminate" I squeed like a fangirl.

Also, I thought my Doctor Who was bad, but I recently met a girl called Nyssa.
I casually asked her where her name come from and she told me her parents were Doctor Who fans.

“I KNEW IT!!!!” I exclaimed and she told me her sister was named Tegan.

I also saw a woman shopping who had too much makeup, dark brown hair, badly cut pants for her shape (well, her outfit really) and bad heels. It may not seem like much in text, but the first thing I thought when I saw her was “OMG ITS THE RANI!!!”

It’s not just my own insanity either. This woman really did look like here I swear…

I’m still on the lookout for the Doctor and the Master…

In a bizarre coincidence before Voyage of the Damned came on ABC1 the NSW edition of ABC News had a report on the performance of Premier Morris Iemma which included a comment from Opposition Leader Barry O'Farrell about the prospect of the ALP replacing Premier Iemma with someone else before the next State election. O'Farrell says that it would not make a difference as he described it as rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic! Less than half an hour later the spaceship Titanic was seen in Voyage of the Damned.
Of all the days to make an allusion to the Titanic it had to be on the same day as Voyage of the Damned.
