Trial of the Century:
A very enjoyable end to the third season.
Playing Alan and Denny's legal opponent is Aisha Tyler who will soon be seen on 7 again when Ghost Whisperer returns next week for its second season. In fact an ad of Ghost Whisperer featuring her was shown during an ad break. Always nice to see her.
This case saw a mother being accused of murder supposedly done by her sons. This is not the first time that this had happened as this was previously done early in the season with the Scott Little trial. Difference this time it was an unsuccessful attempt by the mother to set herself up.
A brilliant strategy that Alan and Denny comes up with to win this case.
Not so long ago, Clarence and Jerry were opposing counsels now remarkably they are working together on a case. Love the Western music that was played.
Repeats are on from next week. |

Beauty and the Beast:
Denise's absence is explained to be that of being on maternity leave. What, a permanent maternity leave!
Mark Valley as Brad is credited as Special Guest Star and has joined the other side of the legal fence as Assistant District Attorney.
I quite like the new characters of Katie Lloyd (Tara Summers) and Lorraine Weller (Saffron Barrows). Due to her look she reminds of Tara. It was very funny when Lorraine said that Alan was being very naughty in court!
It was not until Alan's closing that I really felt that I missed him and certainly missed Judge Sanders' deliberations.
Not sure that I like Carl Sack (John Larroquette) being Paul's replacement. I definitely miss Paul.
Quite a tender moment between Denny and Shirley but the magic of it got spoiled by Shirley's last scene in the episode.
Finally mention must be made of Clarence in the singing contest which completes a very good way in opening up this season. |

Boston Legal will have a fifth season but it will consists of 13 episodes and it will be its last and without Saffron Burrows as a regular as she has joined the cast of My Own Worst Enemy.

Back to the fourth season as I seen this week episode 2-
The Innocent Man:
Always nice to see Tony Todd in any role that he is given.
This episode's explanation of Denise's absence - she's on extended maternity leave!
Absolutely baffled with Shirley hiring Lorraine considering what happened in the previous episode.
Sad about Alan and Gloria coming to an end although it was not unexpected. |

The Chicken and the Leg:
Season 4, Episode 3.
This is a so-so episode which was not help by the chicken case.
However it was funny when Judge Brown kept using his gavel when Alan talked about sex in his closing. |

Do Tell:
Season 4, Episode 4.
Another newcomer in Taraji P. Henson as Whitney and what a character she turned out to be.
Wow what are the chances of a Spanish speaking man who understands but does not speak English talking to an English speaking woman (Whitney) who understands but does not speak Spanish.
The case of the gay general had to go before Judge Brown the same judge who said had the same sex disorder! On 7 this episode was shown on the night after the Grey's Anatomy episode The Becoming was shown which also dealt with gays in the military.
One has got to show pity for the nun on what Spanish she has to translate into English.
Good pun from Denny of using the word "sack" with Sack's name. |

Hope and Gory:
Season 4, Episode 5.
This episode guest stars former Desperate Housewives star Mark Moses. Incidentally on 7 Boston Legal comes after Desperate Housewives in transmission.
The episode also featured Paul Dooley and Frank Birney playing judges. They had previously played judges in The Practice but they were different judges (at least in name) here on Boston Legal.
The community of Middletown are complete idiots in their treatment of Joseph Washington.
Quite a good scene of Katie in church. |

The Object of My Affection:
Season 4, Episode 6.
Directed by Eric Stoltz.
The secretary's testimony at Patrice Kelly's trial is very funny.
I see a familiar face here with Mary Gross who plays a female Jerry.
Denny's fat case is getting worse and worse due to Denny's mouth. |

Attack of the Xenophobes:
Season 4, Episode 7.
The consequences of Alan and Gloria's breakup is felt here as Gloria presides on a case handled by Katie and Whitney representing a client played by Tom Wilson. Wilson was the baddie in the Back to the Future films starring Michael J Fox and Fox himself had appeared in earlier episodes of Boston Legal.
Funny seeing Judge Brown wearing a helmet in court!
Did not surprise me that Denny mentioned the Chinese when Nancy says "Ker-ching".
Unbelievable that the judge who presided on the fat case is called Judge Monica Fudge not to mention her weight. Judge Fudge. It rhymes and it's funny. |

No Brains, Left Behind:
Season 4, Episode 9.
Ooh what a shock with the truth of Lorraine's past.
Funny when the woman from National Geographic testified on how she reacted when she saw the results of the performance of American students in comparison to students from the rest of the world.
As reported by the Sydney Sunday Telegraph's Andrew Mercado, Boston Legal shifts back to its old slot of 10:30pm from tonight as it did not well in the ratings around the country except in Sydney.
Also reported by Mercado is that the fifth and final season will not include Saffron Burrows (Lorraine; as mentioned before), Taraji P. Henson (Whitney) and Gary Anthony Williams (Clarence). |

| Tonight's episode Glow In The Dark guest stars Scott Bakula. This means that Boston Legal now needs to get a former regular of Star Trek: The Next Generation to appear on the show in order to get a Star Trek full house. |

Glow In The Dark:
Season 4, Episode 13.
Unbelievable that Alan and Denny had sex with the same woman on the same day and not know it until towards the end of the episode.
Did not like the Leigh storyline in this. Hopefully this is the last we see of her.
Lovely moments between Jack Ross (Scott Bakula) and Shirley. |

I have read that Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives) is a guest star in the fifth and final season.
She is not the first Desperate Housewives star to appear in Boston Legal as Mark Moses and Steven Culp have also guested on the show. |

Rescue Me:
Season 4, Episode 14.
This episode guest stars Michael Landes as Leo a man with AIDS. The episode suggested a romance between him and Katie which got averted when Katie decided not to go for it. If such a romance had occurred it could easily been a repeat of the romance between Denise and Daniel since both Daniel and Leo were terminally ill men.
Laughed when Alan and Denny did the CPR.
Here is an interesting bit of casting playing Attorney Walt Devlin is John Prosky. He had played District Attorney Tom Van Dyke in Medium. Bit of a come down on the legal ladder. |
