Quantum of Solace is the name of the 22nd Bond film and the second to star Daniel Craig as 007.

Found out the movie's name on Sky News Active this morning and it takes place an hour after the conclusion of Casino Royale.

I've just heard the theme tune for it. It may be the worst Bond tune ever.

In that case, it will have to beat out some pretty solid competition:
- 'Moonraker': A pity that Shirley Bassey's last performance of a theme had such a terrible lyric:
'Where are you,
Why do you hide?
Where is that moon-like train
That leads to your side?'
-'A View to a Kill': Duran Duran produced a terrible song for a very silly movie. I understand the group split (the first time) soon afterwards. No wonder.
- 'The Living Daylights': Maybe A-Ha sound better in Swedish, in English this theme is a lip-stick covered pig.
- 'The World is Not Enough' and 'Die Another Day': Two attempts to escape the straitjacket that failed miserably.
I stand to be corrected on the lyric, by the way

Apparently it's "moonlight trail", so yeah.

I really must protest. This goes down as one of my favourite Bond films - yeah, I know I'm in an oft-sledge minority here, but c'mon... Christopher Walken as a genetically pampered Aryan nutjob? How cool was that for a bit of casting?
And as for the theme tune, I loved it so much that when I went to Paris I reenacted Simon Le Bon's chase scene with a friend on the steps of the Eiffel Tower.
Now maybe that's revealing a bit too much....

Hahaha brilliant.

I hope you bungee-jumped off the top, too.

Personally I think you can tell that A View to a Kill shows the Moore era getting a little tired (and erm, old), but it's still fun, and has some great bits. It's a nice bit of self-indulgence before The Living Daylights kicks the series up the arse again.

I don't really like Duran Duran's version of the theme, if you see what I mean. It's a bit too slow to be exciting. But when used with the title sequence, it's awesome.

Here is an article about director Marc Forster's experience in making Quantum of Solace:
http://www.smh.com.au/news/entertainment/film/shaken-then-stirred/2008/10/29/1224956139731.html

Forster did not like the title at first but now claims to love it.

Writer Ryan Gilbey says this about the film:
"Quantum of Solace, which is as short and sharp as its title is woolly, evokes the Ken Adams-designed techno-retro look of Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice, while pushing Bond's persona toward more morally ambivalent waters."

Not a bad time passer but it was not terribly interesting.

Saw it today and it is pretty good.

The movie carries on well the consequences of what happened in the previous film Casino Royale with Daniel Craig again bringing a superb performance as Bond.

The final climatic scene towards the end of the movie was done very well as well as how the film ended even though they are some questions still left unanswered.

The Sydney Sunday Telegraph Magazine dated November 16 had an interview with Daniel Craig. Included in the article is stating that Craig had humanised Bond and made him three dimensional.

The Sunday Telegraph had a review in the main paper which gave it four stars. The last sentence of the review says this:
"It's the realisation with every bit of derring-do, if Craig learns how to deliver a pithy one-liner, he could become the best Bond ever."
This review was written by Roger Moore but it has been pointed out that this Roger Moore is the reviewer of the Orlando Sentinel and not the same Roger Moore who was one of Craig's predeccesors as Bond.

There wasn't an impressive review of Quantum of Solace in last week's At The Movies with David Stratton saying that "though it’s all very efficient it lacks heart and soul and substance."
