It has been anounced or mainly seen that Nicholas Courtney will be returning to reprise his role but sadly not in Doctor Who. None the less, he'll be in Sarah Jane Adventures and hopefully he'll appear more than once.

Also a Series 4 Sontaran has been seen with him in the scene so we'll know what trouble will happen....... I guess?

yes, I have heard that same rumour and apparently there will be a trip down memory lane and we may finally find out what happened to Harry Sullivan. I am looking forward to seeing the Brigadier again. I always really liked him. I am looking forward to seeing the new series of SJA.

Is that true about Harry Sullivan. I mean, they can't get in Ian Marter who played him since he died on 28th, October, 1986 from a diabetes-related heart attack but if they will do as what you said, I'm sure they'll think of something.

The subsequent adventures of Harry Sullivan have been canvassed in a few non-TV sources:

Harry Sullivan's War is a novel featuring Harry and penned by Ian Marter, which is a bit of a James Bond pastiche. Harry has gone to work for MI-5 in this.

System Shock and Millennium Shock show Harry later in his career, as he is a Deputy Director of MI-5 in these two 4th Doctor novels.

Harry even rates a cameo appearance in Damaged Goods, by a once-only Doctor Who novelist called Russell T Davies. I wonder what happened to him?

Even later, Harry plays an off-'screen' role in the UNIT audios from Big Finish, which may or may not be compatible with his MI-5 career. He has been promoted to Commodore and works for NATO.

Then there's the Sarah Jane Smith connection. In the second season of audio Sarah stories, Harry hasn't been seen for some time and Sarah doesn't know where he is. She does, however, make the acquaintance of Tom Sullivan, Harry's younger brother (play by Tom Chadbon, better known to us all as Duggan from The City of Death). Tom doesn't know where Harry is, either. (He's working for MI-5 and/or NATO, guys!)

And on TV, Sarah has a photo of Harry, and considers naming her recently acquired adoptive son Harry - but decides, instead, on Luke.

Undoubtedly we could learn more of the later life of Harry Sullivan by way of reference, but it's not as though he's been entirely without mention over the years. I sometimes suspect that, although I don't think he'd ever top a poll of favourite companions, Harry would rate highly if you got people to vote for their list of top 10 companions.

Well of course I knew all about that. Just if they were going to make him appear on the Sarah Jane Adventures, how would they do it with Ian Marter being dead, unless he's been hiding all this time.

Then again, they could make him appear in a Sarah Jane Adventures book.

Ohica's suggestion was that we could 'find out what happened to Harry Sullivan'. The fact that Ian Marter is no longer with us doesn't prevent there being news. Whether this will happen is an interesting question - a photo and a throwaway line is easy, but substantial news about a character who cannot appear (probably, although recasting or digital trickery could allow it to happen) is unlikely. The only way I see it could be done would be if the news of Harry is that he has died, and Sarah and the Brigadier set out to investigate what has happened.

There's even talk that David Tennant will make a small appearance as the doctor... sort of a reunion.

I don't think he's gonna be critical to the plot, just there at the end for a lovely fan-wank moment with the Brig.

Don't know how true it is... it wouldn't surprise me as I think it'll be a good introductory episode for the new fans of Doctor Who (before an appearance in the 'proper' Doctor Who series).
