Into The Unknown Episode 1: The Visitor:
This features Geoffrey Bayldon and Stephen Garlick (Hippo Ibbotson in Mawdryn Undead).
Geoffrey Bayldon's voice is only heard in this episode which judging from what is said in the commentary begins an unspectacular story. |

Finished watching the story.
Geoffrey Bayldon looked underused in the story. The villains don't look menacing at all and their eventual defeat in the story felt unsatisfying.
Many of the previous stories were three parters so I don't know why this story could not have been one as well as there was obviously not enough material to cover four full episodes. The final episode is only 16 minutes. The commentators seemed to have lost focus with the story by the time the final episode came on as they spent most of the episode talking about something else.
The way that Into The Unknown was presented to the audience is perhaps why it was the last four parter until the final story of the original series War of the Empires some three years later.
The notes on the DVD said that a version of the Tomorrow People theme used in this story was also heard in Frontier In Space but no mention at all of Inferno. |
