According to Andrew Mercado in yesterday's Sydney Sunday Telegraph Dexter will finally makes its way to free to air TV on 10.

10 has rejected the modified version of the series, which has Michael C. Hall playing the title character who is a serial killer, and will show the full version when it begins on Sunday July 6 at 9:40pm.

Dexter will take over from Supernatural in that slot when the latter show finishes its current season.

The series also features Julie Benz (Darla in Buffy & Angel).

Dexter:
A pretty gruesome start to the series seeing Dexter killing the killers.
Julie Benz is pretty good as Rita.
I thought Jennifer Carpenter who played Dexter's sister Debra looked familiar. So I checked her up at IMDb and I have seen her before in the movie White Chicks.
Felt pity for Debra when her theory about the ice truck wasn't taken seriously by Lt. Laguerta.

Crocodile:
Season 1, Episode 2.
Playing the captain is Geoff Pierson. This the third time that I have seen him quite recently after the Medium season 4 finale Drowned World & the Get Smart movie.
Favourite line: Dexter wishing that God give him an extension cord.
Yet another example of the word "justice" being used as an euphemism for "revenge".

I had to tape the last episode and put off watching it due to studying for my Trial HSC. Then I had a dream about Dexter:

The Ice Truck Killer, who I could only see from the back, had some photos of Dexter. One was of him at the beach, taken as he was walking along it. The Killer was comparing this photo to a very similar one of Dexter, as a boy, on that same beach...

I am totally psychic!

That is amazing.

Let's Give the Boy a Hand:
Season 1, Episode 4.
Oh my the episode title really took things literally.
It was also quite heartwarming this episode's flashbacks with Dexter's dad especially with dad telling Dexter to always smile at the camera even if does not feel like it!
Also nice to see Erin Daniels in this episode.

Love American Style:
Season 1, Episode 5.
Read beforehand that Dexter was going to kill two people in this episode. Was a little surprise on who the second person turned out to be.

Return To Sender:
Season 1, Episode 6.
Very funny line from Dexter of Rita's husband being a crackhead and him being a serial killer.
The scene of Dexter's crime is visited upon by his colleagues at the police department. Luckily for him the boy described someone else in the sketch. Well you know what they say about mysterious ways.

Circle of Friends:
Season 1, Episode 7.
Love Dexter's line of Rita making a certain f word cute when she says it.
Somehow I did not think this was the end of the Ice Truck Killer storyline and the ending confirms this.

Oh my god what a cliffhanger! I loved how Dexter worked everything out and I can't wait 'til next week! The trailer looks awesome!

My theory is that Rudy is Dexter's brother.

Totally agree about the cliffhanger and that is an interesting theory.

Plus I really hate the captain.

Yeah it's funny how at the beginning of the series Laguerta was the baddie. Now her character has changed and improved a lot.

OMG I was right! And, before my brother gets annoyed with me, so was he.
What a dilemma faced by Dexter. Poor guy. But good on him. He did the right thing.
So, the entire Ice Truck Killer scheme was basically to bring Brian (Rudy) and Dexter together. Wouldn't it have been easier for Brian to ring Dexter up and say, "Hey, I'm your long lost brother"? Ah well.
Channel Ten are very evil, very clever bastards. Last week in the preview, they showed Paul telling Rita, "Dexter's not who you think he is" and had Rita stating to Dexter, "Dating a serial killer". They just love to get up our hopes, don't they?

Well, that was a thoroughly enjoyable series. Very original, and plenty of suspense. Loved it.

I can't believe they brought Series 2 out on DVD before Series 1 even finished! At the very least, it tells you that Dexter isn't going to die at the end of the series, which could have been a possibility.

Dexter is based (increasingly loosely) on a series of books by Jeff Lindsay. There is a high degree of correspondence between the first series and the first book, Darkly Dreaming Dexter (although some significant differences, like Brian dating Deb in the series) didn't happen in the novel and matters from the novel (like LaGuerta being the last victim of... well, I'll say the Ice Truck Killer, though he's not known as that in the novel... were changed for TV).

Series 2 and Dearly Devoted Dexter are a very long way apart.

I haven't read Dexter in the Dark yest, but have seen episode 1 of series 3.

A fourth Dexter novel is due to be published next year, but I suspect the book Dexter and the TV Dexter are now so far apart as to be effectively different characters.

But yes, Michael C Hall is an impressive actor. I became interested in watching Dexter because he was in it, after the great job he hid in Six Feet Under, but I decided I should read the books first...!

The TV series derives its trappings from the books, so (for example) the books are narrated from Dexter's viewpoint, much as the show has Dexter voice-overs. There's a degree of detached wit in the writing which mimics Dexter's detachment from the people around him.

The fact that I have read two and have the third on my 'to read' shelf, and know a fourth is coming, probably tells you I enjoy them. However, you should be aware that they aren't the TV series, not just in terms of plot points but also in terms of the extra life characters have by virtue of being played by actors. You may find characters you know from the TV screen quite different in print.

For me, it was the other way around - I already knew the characters from the books, so then having an actor apply their skills and give a more textured performance informed by vocal tones and body language I guess made them more human. (Does that make sense?)

Jeff Lindsay had misgivings about Michael C Hall playing Dexter but once he watched him on set thought he was perfect for the role.....I love it and think it's a great show....I played the DVD's almost back to back I was that addicted Embarassed
