| I read in the SMH Guide that the pilot for the US version had to be reshot, apparently because it is dreadful. |

| I watched the US trailer, and it just felt wrong. Seeing the exact same plotline - but with different actors and a cheesy American voiceover - made me cringe. Why do the Americans have to make their own version of every single show that does well? |

| Probably for the same reason Australia does- to make money. And to put their own spin on it, like cultural differences and stuff. I must admit I LOVE Australia's next top model but I detest America's next top model just because of the different styles in making the shows. |

Gretchen Mol has been cast as Annie in the US version:

Apparently her surname is Norris instead of Cartwright as in the original British series. |

I have finished watching the unaired pilot of the US version.
Hit and Run:
It's not bad.
Jason O'Mara is quite good as Sam Tyler.
Rachelle Lefèvre was very good as Annie. It's too bad she got replaced in the series proper.
As much as I like Colm Meaney I don't think he made a convincing Gene Hunt. I don't think he is as anywhere near as tough Philip Glenister to play the role effectively. I can understand why Meaney was replaced in the series proper.
The bit with the psychologist is still stupid. |
