This has been the best episode thus far in this series for mer personally. It wasn't perfect but it's been the closes to the kind of Who story I enjoy. Donna was a lot less annoying this time around (although I'm still looking forward to Martha's return next week ) and the Ood were just creeeeeeepy!
The giant cg brain looked a little silly but the idea was cool. |

Great episode. I liked that it was set on an alien planet, and it had a good message about slavery. The twist of the guy turning into an Ood was really cool.
Is this the second mention of the bees disappearing? I must have missed the first (that happened a lot last year with Mr Saxon...)
I'm just confused as to why that one Ood didn't get red-eye. Was it because he was already in on the plot?
"Ood, you dropped something."
"D'oh!"
Nice to see that The Simpsons is still known in the 42nd century.
It was interesting to learn in Doctor Who: Confidential that the "alien planet" was actually a quarry, filmed in summer, covered in fake snow.
I thought that "Ood-Sigma" could definitely have been a reference to the Doctor's nickname.
Yay, the Doctor mentioned the Sensorites! I remember the Sensorites! That's twice in two episodes that the Doctor has mentioned his adventures as the First Doctor (in Fires of Pompeii he said he'd been to Ancient Rome before, and he did in The Romans). I love classic references and classic monsters, which is why I'm sooooo looking forward to Sontarans next week! |

| Yeah that was alright. REALLY surprised to here the sensesphere mentioned. For some reason it seemed confronting to have the first series put next to the last. Donna's not as annoying as she used to be. |

| I was reading the DWM preview of the episode when my niece noticed a picture of an Ood and it really scared her! It was from reading the preview when it pointed out something I did not realise before - director Graeme Harper directing in snow again 23 years after he directed Revelation of the Daleks which also had snow in it. |

I like the ood. They are somehow so vulnerable that you just have to feel sorry for them. Although, that said, my son is quite scared of them...
I thought it was a pretty good ep, I liked how the doctor put the song into Donna's head, every so often we get this tiny insight into how his mind actually functions and its great!
Can't wait for the next one! I love Sundays |

| One thing that was missing from the Confidential Cutdown episode Oods and Ends and is the process of Halpern turning into an Ood. It was quite a fascinating look so it was a shame it got left out. |

I seem to remember a 3rd Doctor Episode (don't ask me which one) when he was saying to his companion (I think Sarah Jane) that his real name was actually John Smith, but no-one ever believes him when he says it.
Hope this is not the end of DT
Am really liking Donna as a companion
Story didn't hold me as much as last weeks, but was enjoyable. |

I must say when I first saw this episode all those many months ago, I enjoyed it immensely.
The 3rd central brain bit was a bit too much (that could have been done better) but everythign else was A-OK.
Good to see that human nature doesn't change thru the millenia & we still trade slaves. |

Hi, a newbies here..so easing into things...
But I had mixed reactions to this episode. I think that overall it was good, but there were a few moments where it got a bit too sentimental. Particularly with Donna. Now I do love Donna. She is my favourite companion, but it did call on her to be perhaps a bit mushy, or perhaps she played it a bit too mushy. But maybe it was an acting thing. I can't put my finger on it.
Anyway, good points were that it was great to get off Planet Earth for a bit (although there were humans again, but in this story it was unavoidable and perhaps provided a smooth transition for Donna and seeing how she reacts to her humankind's treatment on others) and it had a great theme. Doctor Who has been very earth orientated lately, so getting off the planet is a nice change. A few great pop culture moments..um well. Generally it was good overall. |
