The new sontarans were RIDICULOUS!
When introducing an enemy to the audience (or reintroducing), they recieve their first impression. I really liked the raxaco...slitheen, but their first impression just wasn't very good, and as a result these baddies suffered. It's the same thing with the new sontarans, for the same reason.
The sontarans, like the slitheen, looked silly. Firstly there's the height. I liked how they were short, it suits them and should be a part of them. But the references to it would have made people laugh at their height. How about all the other humorous references to their appearance? Same effect. It just makes me think of them as being funny-looking and silly. Then there's the colouring. Not the colour of the sontarans, I mean the lighting. You'd expect sontarans to have a powerful, mighty impression, right? But they're surrounded by pinks and purples! What were the people behind that thinking?!
I could keep going on about my reasons for hating the new sontarans, but that could take forever...really. |
