Although it's nearly two years later, I was lucky enough to see The Goodies on stage in 2005.
Having grown-up watching them in the early '80s, when I heard they were doing a tour, well nothing was going to stop me!!
The show was fantastic. When I'm old and crusty years down the track and make my list of things I'm really glad I did in my lifetime, well that will be there without a doubt. So very, very funny.
I tried to get a whole group of people who also knew and loved them, to come too and make a night of it, but the general fear was they'd be old and my peers just wanted to remember them as they were. BIG MISTAKE guys. BIG BIG mistake.
Yes, they were older, yes, they had a little less hair, true they may have added a pound or two. But they still have the chemistry, the timing, everything that made them special. They still have the essence of The Goodies.
I'm so sorry if you missed out. I think they only did the one night, but two shows on that night. If the Doctor ever picked me up in the TARDIS and said "where to?" It'd be that night over and over again. |
